Default Buying in Central Aurora, good or bad idea????

Hi,
We found a really cute house next to Expo Park in Aurora (near Havana and Alameda).

We love the yard, the house, the neighborhood, also located in Cherry Creek School District.

But we heard there is a lot of crime near Expo Park.

Please let me know anything!

Thanks!

I haven't been out that way in a long time, but IMO, its a little too far north for comfort for me. Perhaps contacting the Aurora PD can help you make your decision. FYI, if you do settle in that area, consider avoiding Aurora Mall, its not what it used to be.

Default I just talked to an Officer

I called an Officer who is in charge (?) of that district, and he said things were worse south of Mississippi than along the Alameda Cooridor.

But he said it was ok.

Thanks!

Default ask the neighbors

Hi - I always like to take clients with me to ask the neighbors how long they've lived in the neighborhood and how they like it. It's also a nice way to meet your potential neighbors. Good luck!

Expo has some nice areas and a great disc golf course if you can forgive the massive amounts of goose **** and polluted lakes ....

Certainly it is a safe area.

I just moved into a home (about 2 months ago) east of Peoria between Alameda and Mississippi (Aurora Hills). Not too far from your potential home. I think the hype about Central/Northern Aurora is extremely overblown. I think it just might be code for some people to say it's a bad area because it is more diverse and not as new.

The area is established and all of the neighbors that I've met so far have lived here forever. I think Central Aurora might be the best value in the metro area.

P.S. There should be nothing to scare anybody away from Aurora Mall. Puhleeeeeeze!

I think it matters if you like the neighborhood and the house, since you contacted the police for a crime report you should have a view of what potential problems you might have.

When I started looking to buy even though I live in Denver I decided on looking for a place in aurora. And i wouldn't hesitate to move in the area your looking at. Aurora central/north tends to have a very overblown reputation.
