When we do get an oddball posting here in CO (racism, bigotry, sexism, agism, gaybasher, flamer, troll, advertiser, foulmouth, etc) it is my PLEASURE to ban them for life.....one of the simple joys of being a Moderator. Pay is zero, but satisfaction is cool. The Colorado Forum is one of the best on the site, most everyone here reflects the niceness of the citizens here. The many posters and I strive to get good data posted, whether positive or not, we'll allow anyone to post anything about CO as long as people find calm, respectful words to voice their opinions and explain / substantiate the reasons for how they feel (good or bad)....the polite exchange of ideas is what makes it work.

Wow, its absolutely beautiful outside!! Im wearing a short sleeve t shirt and was outside re shoveling and it felt great!
Short of a few hours here and there of 'cabin fever', this was a pretty enjoyable little storm.
I do feel for those stuck elsewhere due to road closures (2beindenver, hope they had good reception on the tv) and hope you have a save return.

It is quite nice outside right now. My 12 yr old son is out playing wearing a T-shirt and shorts. This from a kid that spent all but the last 2 years of his life living in SoCal. My teenage daughter has been out in her flip flops of all things. I wouldn't call it balmy by any means, but no where near bone chilling.

I haven't traded my Sorels for flip-flops yet, but this is what I love about the winter weather here. It snows, then its sunny for a week. Once the sidewalks and trails are cleared, I'll be wearing shorts and running shoes.

Hope you can get out tomorrow. I understand from friends heading South from here in Taos yesterday they made it only as far as Espanola (just over that 33 mile mountain). They're hoping to get back to San Antonio.
It just keeps coming down here, beautiful to look at but no fun to drive in, that is, if I can get out of my backroad onto a paved one.
Happy New Year, Colorado!

Dan. Feel blessed. We are a family of five in one hotel room, with nothing but a TV, a computer & a deck of cards.
We are hoping to be on our way home tomorrow.

We feel the same about this last storm.....it was given a lot of hype, but very little snow. It looks like, this time, Denver got more snow than we did in Parker. That don't happen very often!
We left home at 11AM, sun was shining and the roads were fairly easy to drive on. Took some photos/video of "snow sparkling" trees....very beautiful.
It looks like we have more snow coming in next weekend. Thank God we won't get anymore snow 'til then........we need some "time off".
We remember when we use to absolutely love the winter snow. We both missed the snow enough, that was one of the reasons we left So. Calif and moved here (we are originally from Michigan & Indiana). BUT, now that we are both almost 60 years old, the snow can be a real "pain-in-the-butt" versus fun, like it use to be. We use to get "aches/pains" shoveling snow and got a snowblower because of that. Now the snowblower can give us "aches/pains" also. It is time to sell the house and move to a "less snow" area.....North Carolina. In the Charlotte area, they only get about 5 inches of snow per winter. We can handle that.

Ohh I have been to Colorado many times. Only once in the summer, the other ohhh 10ish times in winter. My unlce owns a place in Breckenridge, and my father in law lives in Greeley. Both my dad and mom went to college in Colorado, him to the Air Force Academy, my mom to Colorado Women's College (which is now part of DU I believe). Just haven't had a chance to live there yet. We moved a bit while growing up since my dad was in the Air Force..
Went to college myself in Texas since I qualified for in state tuition. I was accepted at University of Colorado , Boulder, but I couldn't afford out of state tuition.
I did some winters in middle Illinios when I was a kid with lots of snow, but since then I haven't lived where snow was a common occurance. Portland, OR only got a trace of snow the year I lived there, the year after I left they got a blizzard but I missed it. Dallas got an inch or two every other year or so. Houston never got any. Dubai (where I am now).. hahah yeah right. It is "freezing" here today according to locals... the low overnight was 57'. HAHAH. At least they have an indoor ski slope here, so at least I can see the white stuff if I want... (though going down the same "25" story run over and over again does get old after a while, but hey Skiing in the desert, when it was 120' out in the summer, and 15 minutes from my apartment, guess I can't complain) Check it out for an interesting few minutes.. www . skidxb . com

Yeah, I remember getting phone calls from relatives back east, asking me about "the storm" when all the snow action had actually taken place up in the mountains.
I think with this particular storm, the worst of it went south and east of Denver/Colo Spgs. My sister in law says Santa Fe got 25 inches; it set a record--and many people lost power.
Take it easy out on the streets, though. When the sun comes out on snowpack and frozen slush, that's when you sometimes go slip-slidin' away.

i love the snow. But the thought of shoveling has me worried. I have a shoulder that will not like that one bit. Are there alternatives to shoveling?
