Default Opinion on Specific Aurora Areas

I know most of my previous posts were on apartments and the last thread seemed to end on a good note about Lakewood and Belmar, but the wife and I started looking at rental condos in Aurora and found some that we liked. Knowing that the general mood on aurora is somewhat negative, I thought I would get the locals opinions on some specific areas that would certainly help me and maybe others who are trying to get mental maps put together for the area. Once again the wife and I are looking for safe areas, not concerned about school districts or anything like that. Close to major retail would be nice and a fairly easy commute for me to the colorado and 9th Health Science center.

One nice looking condo is on Illif in Windstream subdivision and is directly adjacent to the Cherry Creek Golf course

Another is also very spacious and nice and is located between S Parker and Chambers (Closer to Parker) and a couple of blocks north of E Quincy

And one last possibility is on Albion St just east of Colorado and slightly south of E Smith Rd.

Once again I appreciate all the help that this forum provides. It is making this move into a brand new area a little less intimidating

This one is not in Aurora at all -- it's actually in the Sunnyside neighborhood in north Denver, a couple of miles out of downtown. This is an area with housing dating from about 1890-1950 or so, maybe with an occasional scrape-off or two of new housing. My grandmother actually grew up in this area.

Sunnyside fell on hard times for a while, and is now on the upswing. It's next to another old neighborhood which is considered a bit more trendy -- Highland. You're likely to find some people in the area who are very poor, and other higher-income folks who are restoring old victorians. As time goes on you're liable to see more of the latter and less of the former.

Hopefully that helps you understand the area -- it would be very unlike the other properties you're looking at.

Thanks tfox for the info. I figured the house was a little different situation, but didn't want to start something new just for one property. Its nice to know that the area is on the rebound and that alot of rennovation and restoration is taking place.

As of right now we are close to signing the lease on the first property that I mentioned, the townhouse in the Windstream development on E. Illif between S. Yousemite Dr and S. Parker rd. If anyone has some more information, good and bad things about the area ect I would love to hear about it.

Thanks
