Pffffffffizered on Thursday with #2. I went to Walmart and the process for both shots was a piece of cake.

I had about 12 hours of tired and achy yesterday, but back to 100% today.

Got my older two kiddos (20 & 16) their first Pfizer doses today with same-day appointments. They were doing drive-thru vaccinations at the Broadmoor World Arena in the Springs. There weren't many people there at all, and the gal who did our intake said it was slow all day. Light attendance in Trumpistan. Go figure.

Maybe people are taking a “wait and see” approach to it? Or maybe people were out doing things yesterday since the weather was nice. Or maybe now the vaccine is available at so many places that there isn’t a pressing need for large drive-through vaccine centers anymore, since so many other options are available. I’m not a “big government” person by any means, but I will give credit when credit is due, and I feel like the vaccine website put together by the state is decent, especially when it comes to outlining where you can get a vaccine, on a county-by-county basis. There are SO MANY options within my county.

With that said, it seems pretty easy to get an appointment at the Ball Arena (Pepsi Center) in Denver as well. They even have the J&J vaccine, which is what I will probably do. I’m going to wait a bit longer but I’ve been monitoring appointment availability. Two of my friends were able to get the J&J vaccine there on Friday of last week. I like the idea of one dose vs waiting for a second dose.

16 and 17 year olds can only get the Pfizer vaccine, it's the only one approved by the FDA for that age group. So availability is not as high.

My 16 year old got his first shot about 10 days ago. He is a science brained kid and his own analysis is that the risks from the vaccine are less than the risks from contracting COVID. That is consistent with my opinion but anyone who has raised a teen will not be surprised to hear he formed his own opinion! Lol!

My 27 year old got his first Pfizer in Pueblo yesterday. Was supposed to be J&J but that was one of the sites that switched from J&J. Hardly anyone there. The staff said they had a good number of people driving from Denver and Boulder.

Scheduled for Pfizer at Ball Arena in Denver on Tuesday.

I used https://www.vaccinespotter.org/CO/ to find different options - liked that you could filter by vaccine and distance. We have poor availability in Douglas County but I'm more than happy to make the 35 min drive to get it scheduled only a couple days out!

I'm still seeing stuff on my Twitter feed every day about same-day vaccine availability at the Pueblo fairgrounds site -- they're even taking walk-ups without appointments there.

It is starting to feel like we are getting to the phase where people who want shots can have them in the same week. The next group of people will need to be incentivized by their employers; either carrot or stick.

Ball Arena (Pepsi Center) now accepts walk-ins for the vaccine. You can still make an appointment but it’s no longer required. This is actually news from last week but I didn’t know until today.
