Strip clubs from that era
Well, I'd bet there are some good stories from folks who visited the strip clubs from that time. Here's some that I remember.
Sid Kings, some folks have already mentioned this one. I never went there but I remember the lady statue on the roof, different outfits every time I went by.
Aloha Beach, went there once with my coworkers. Wow, the girls there did some really interesting things.
There was a club on Federal that catered to the 3.2 crowd, don't remember the name of the place. I took my brother there for his 18th birthday.
Shotgun Willies a lunchtime favorite with the people from Sterns Rogers.
I heard about some of the shows for the ladies from that time, amy memories?

Hey MisterB. I was talking about that place about 7 months ago in this thread here, and Sockeye recognized it here, Jazz here, and mention of Pecos Junction here.
I remember Pecos, but Aloha was before my time. Heard it was off the hook.

I think you are talking about the 94th Aerosquadron. It did burn down around 1990. I think it was a Saturday or Sunday morning. I was working at Stapleton. The control tower called my office, and the traffic controller asked me to look out my window and tell him if I thought it might be on fire because there appeared to be some smoke coming from it. I looked. There was not some smoke, there was a whole bunch of smoke coming from it. Needless to say, I placed a call to the Aurora FD.

Steve in Denver! Stearns Roger! Yep, they've been swallowed up by the huge corporations as well. Worked for them at the Craig Power Plant and the Ft. St. Vrain Plant near Platteville in the early 70's.

Anyone remember the Smorgasborg Restaurant, around 72 nd. and Federal? It was set a ways off Federal and you had to drive around back the small mall to get to it. One of the first, all you can eat restaurants in the area.
Anyone remember KIMN's Pogo Poge? He was one of Denver's all time popular DJ's from the past. Last I heard he retired to Utah after workiing and living in Hawaii for many years. Ahhhhh.........the GREAT old days

The smorgasboard on 72nd was called Little Banquet! Worked there as a busboy when I was a kid. Had pretty good food. The place was nestled in around the corner from the King Soopers..

Gboost17............again i stand corrected,,,,i had completely forgotten it was called "Little Banquet"...thanks for the info.......they say the mind's one of the first things to go.......lol...........one thing i do remember is, it seemed so far away when i was just a kid..............what a treat to go there on Sundays....and it was always busy........i remember the food was always HOT, unlike many of the "all-u-can-eat" places now
Gboost17, ...............any chance you remember what the prices were back then? I'm just curious...... I remeber it was cheap. My parents' house payment was $79.00 a month back then and i remember them not having a lot of money so it had to be cheap for threm to take the entire family on Sundays
Anyone remember what their first house payments were.......im curious to see how things have changed for others. When i joined the Police dept in 1972, i had a house built in a developemet off 80 th and Wadsworrh. I was making 704.00 a month, my house payment was 176.00 a month and utilities about 13.00 a month. If i remember right, my phone bill was about 8.00.
And i recall my first NEW car, a Ford Pinto station wagon.............it was nice to fill it up and give the attendant 3.00 and get change back.............talk about the GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!!!

Say hello to the mountains for me :(
Oh what a great thread! I lived in Denver from 1955 to 1994, graduated from JFK in 1969. Sorry for not reading thru the whole thing but I had a couple to contribute (hoping they are not more '50s than '60s)
Roller City on West Alameda in Lakewood - especially Friday nights with all my gal-pals - right down the street from Bowl-ero Lanes where I learned how to bowl!
Rockybilt on South Broadway - before McDonald's!
the first Denver McDonald's w/ the golden arches, walk up only, on Federal on or near Evans?
Sheriff Scotty - this was a kids TV show on Channel 7 and later on Channel 9, Jon Scott's Dad (Ed) was Sheriff Scotty
Dolly Madison's - Ice cream in those little cups with the flat wooden thing to eat it with, and they also had a soda fountain and booths. There was one in the Lincoln Shopping Center on South Federal, and one in the old Bear Valley strip mall where my brother worked as a "soda jerk" and would put extra cherry in my cherry coke

CathyInExile...........
I , too, recall Rockybuilt...............they had paper thin hamburgers made from a one inch ball of meat....i was amazed at how they could flatten a piece of meat THAT thin...........i believe one used to be in the 1600 blk of Broadway years ago and one was at Colfaz and Quebec st. ( I think that was the cross stree)
They used to have a Dolly Madison in my old neighborhood in north east Denver, on 48 th Ave between Colorado Blvd and Vasquez Blvd......i enjoyed the cheery cokes too from the fountain, as well as chocolate cokes
Wasn't Sheriff Scotty around the same time as the OLD Fred and Faye show............a local kids show hosted by therm. a married couple at the time
I remember my FIRST color show on television...My Aunt and Uncle had a small grocery store on the corner of 17 th Franklin St. They had one of the first color sets in the back room and I watched Bonanza on it............at the time I thought life couldnt get much better
Thanks for the memories
