There was a Red Barn.....it was on about 45th & Harlan, just west of Lakeside Shopping Center.
I remember all of these places everyone mentioned. Wish they were still there.

Well then you weren't too far from Marc's. Ever been there for a bucket of mussels and a beer?

I do, had a few good meals there too. How about the Copper Kitchen south of Jewell on Federal?

If anyone has any pictures of the metro area from say the 1940's to the 1970's with say the sky line, traffic etc that would be awsome if you would post them here. I know its a little out of the title but would be great to see!!!!

Yes, I do remember that restaurant and I went there once for a little rememberance---I took my very first date, when I picked up a girl with my first car, to a Mr. Steak in Cheektowaga, NY. Yea, I thought I was a real big shot.
Mr. Steak was still here when I came in the 1970s. There headquarter were in Denver and they had a big commissary warehouse in the Northern Part of Denver, near the Stockyards--I remember going there for business. The company went under when it was revealed that they were inflating their inventory by mislabeling boxes of lesser quality steaks with more expensive cuts, thereby increasing the book value of the company. A number of the franchised restaurants still operated under the name, for a short time, after it folded.

I remember the steak joint on 44th & Sheridan, ate there many a time. I also worked at the Red Barn (my 1st job) during the summer of 1974. If anyone ever wondered what they used for the secret sauce on their famous "Barnbuster", it was tarter sauce.
Does anyone remember the small family owed cafe on Federal, just north of I-70 and near were the scotchman was. Great food during the 80's.
Here's a couple more from the 70's and 80's that I remember:
Mr Swiss
Mel's
Griff's

Luethy's Kitchen?? I'm sure I spelled it wrong.
When I worked at Mr. Steak.....the manager was an ex-cop. GC.
I was a hostess....I went from there to Casa Bonita (one of the first 300 hired!!
My first job was at Willis Case Golf Course.
I graduated from North High School (anybody else??).
By the way....people really loved Mr. Steak's blue cheese dressing...the secret was.......Mr Steak Sauce in the dressing (just a dab!)FYI.

The Denver of the 50's and 60's was the best. I am so happy to have grown up there. Now I can't get out fast enough. Traffic and attitudes are just horrible. I also lived on the Western Slope in the mid 80's. Now the infllux of people over there is astounding as there are really no jobs on the WEstern Slope.
Graduated from Alameda, lived in Wyo, Ariz, New Mex. and now Tx. I miss the mountains terribly, but will never move back to Big D.
Northwoods Inn, Villa Italia, Eliche Gardens, Lakeside, Drive-Inns, Bowl-er-O. (On West Alameda) Rexall Drugstores, (my first job) Lots of fond memories.
