I remember that syation well Sockeye! 1340 am, I believe. KMYR was a great station, was only on the air for a couple years. They would play cuts from Velvet Underground, Southwest FOB, Fever Tree, Spirit, and many more garage/psych groups. It was ca great station!

Great times then for radio. DJ's could do their own thing, AND take listener requests. It was really cool to call, make a request, and then hear the tune YOU requested, and sometimes even get your name mentioned. KBCO's Brett Saunders is still awesome. Very knowledgeable, funny, and kinda old school.

There are some things I miss when I moved to the western slope, KBCO was one of them. The early to mid-morning dj, Dennis Constantine always played great stuff. His friend Pat Downey would have morning oldies at 8:30 and play some great obscure tracks. Ginger was another solid dj, I believe she is still with the station.

Yep-Ginger's still there. Can't think of a bad thing to say about her. Many former KBCO DJ's are now over at KCUV, which is independent. Great variety and very few adds.

Does anybody know of a site that has reunion info for Kennedy High School circa the 60's/mid70's?

How we find these memories
[quote=McGowdog;4061119]My older brother told me there was a place on north Federal called Aloha Beach. It would have made Pecos Junction look tame from what I'd heard about it.
Has anyone ever heard of or been to the Yum Yum Tree?
McGowdog,
Been to both these places back in the early 70's.
A friend and I used to ride our one speed, banana seated stingray bikes 4 miles to the Aloha Beach during the summers. It was located off 64th and Federal. We were kids at the time and we would sneak into the beach area to go swimming. Looking back, it was like a scene from Wonder Years. The lake was man made, had a high dive and I remember an area were you could ski without the boat. Had a cable above you that pulled you through the water. I also remember a bar and motel rooms. I'm pretty sure they rented them by the hour.
The Yum Yum Tree was located on Colorado Blvd and Alameda Ave. My family loved this place growing up. It was cheap, If I remember it had 8 different ethnic food stations. We were not wealthy (not poor) so this was like going to Epcot Center to us.
Does anyone remember;
Lakeside Speedway, Sunday night racing.

Yes I remember most of the places on your list.
Jim's Burger Haven "the big bugger"
The original Jim's was located off 38th and Sheridan behind the lakeside speedway.
Craig's Chevrolet, we used to practice football behind their store.
