I sure hope folks are doing okay. I just got a CNN news update that an avalanche just hit one of the roads.

While I was complaining (to myself) about snow here in Northern NM, it seems Colorado is getting more than their share of the white and just giving us more than we normally have or can handle.

I'm grateful for the 4-wheel drive I never needed before even back in New England.

Stay warm, indoors and please take care!

The avalanche was up near Berthoud Pass. Two cars buried.
That would be scary indeed. Well, they say things come in threes.
With 3 storms in 3 weeks, maybe Colorado will get a break after this, at least for awhile.

Yes, that is what my blower is then. It has an auger blade to chew up the snow and an impeller blade throw it up the chute. It has a separate oil tank, so I don't have to add oil to the gas. It has an electric start, so I plug in a extension cord, prime the engine, set the choke, and then push the starter. It also has a manual pull start. It has 6 forward gears and 2 reverse.

I believe I paid $650 for it 3 years ago. Sears had 3 of them for the same price (at least one of them was on sale), so I went for the one with the most horsepower (8hp) and biggest "bite" (27").

It eats through most anything. If it starts bogging down due to wet/heavy or deep snow, then I just take less of a bite. Turning the thing around is a bit of a workout, since the two wheels are locked together.

If you buy one, get one with some good horsepower. I've seen neighbors using smaller ones (some no bigger than a lawn mower), and they end up still having to do a lot of shoveling. It is worth it to get something that will clear the deep and/or heavy stuff. I have to do a minimal of shoveling after using the blower.

I wish it would snow here...it's 60 degrees here in Louisville,KY and our tiny midwest ski slopes are closed b/c most of the snow has melted

There is an old saying that my Supervisor at works says, "Watch what you ask for!"
A couple of weeks before Christmas, the local news here was saying, "will we have a White Christmas"? And, a lot of people here were asking the same question. Well......quess what happened? We definitely had a "White Christmas" and a "White New Year". Like the saying, "Watch what you ask for".

The buried cars were taken from north of Lamar and the photo in front of the fire station was taken from Rye, Colorado.
