Talking I Finally Made It and Seeking a Job !

Hi Guys,
I finally made the big move. I have been here 5 days now. Day two I scored a house next to Swaniea Park. I am sure I mis-spelled that! Not quiet where I wanted to be but this place is purfect. It is only one bus downtown! Downtown is amazing. I spent the weekend looking for a job. Not the best timing. Managed to land a sales job on the 16th Street Mall. Sadly, it is not a very good job so I am still looking. Any insite on where or how to look for a job around here? In Wyoming places put help wanted signs in the windows and you just walked in and asked. Here....no signs. Most places have you apply on line. I do much better face to face. I have experiance in many fields; sales, photography, office, hotel, bartending, and education. I am open to almost any good job oppertunity. I am getting real low on cash so a bartending job would be cool right now. Any advise, insight....please!!!
I just love it here. Everyone has been so nice. I can't wait until I have some money coming in so I can go out and make some friends!!

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting for you!! Great time of year to get here!!

There are so many bars, I can't even tell you where to start!

Cayote Ugly's is there, if you can do that? I have a friend here in Canon, who's daughter worked there for years and really made a ton!!

If you have Hotel experience, maybe you could look into a bartending job in a nice Hotel near you. That's an option.

Glad you made it, have fun!!

Keep trying. You know the old saying: "The best way to find a job is to have a job". I know nothing about work in your fields, so I can't help you in that way. Good luck!

It's completely awesome that you have a job now. You are obviously positive and enthusiastic, and will soon have oodles of friends. Let them all know that you are looking. Something better than what you have will probably find you. Keep an eye on craigslist. I don't know Denver as well as Boulder, so it's hard for me to tell you specifically what to do to land that good bartending job. I would talk to the bartenders at the places that you like the most and see what they can advise you. I'm old now, but I remember that in college one of my friends got her foot in the door at a nice (lucrative) bar/restaurant by being someone's backup.

I roll my eyes at a lot of the find a job posts. Honestly, I'm not worried about you at all. Let us know how things go.

Hotels are great starters. They supply uniforms and meals and pretty good pay & benefits. There are many upscale hotels downtown.

LOL...I just applied at Coyote Ugly yesterday. I think I might be a little old and fat for that right now. Does sound like fun. I'm a DJ too. I just got a lead on a DJ job in Commerce City. I live real close to Commerce City so it is real attractive. Really hope to hear back from them. So I am guessing the best way to land a job in a bar is to just go there. In that case I am doing it right. Is there any place jobs are listed in one great big easy to read and contact list??? Thanks for all the welcomes and good wishes!!!

Well how weird is that....you already applied there!!? And how, not so weird that, I, once again spelled something wrong!SHEESH!!
Seriously folks, I DO know how to spell!! I say this with a serious amount of "egg" on my face!!

I'm glad that everyone has suggestions about going to the places and asking around ( word of mouth and all).. good idea as long as you try not to "drink" up all of your $$$$!!! You are smarter than that,...I can tell!! Not that I read minds or anything!!LOL!!

Like I said before, a nice Hotel for bartending in your area might be a great place to start. At least you know that they will be more likely to have customers at all times.

As far as Commerce City....I totally am NOT the one to ask about that! I really cannot stand it there and, have a HARD time believing it has changed enough for me to even consider being around that part of Colorado!!

Don't be mad anyone but, gee....it would really really have had to be gutted and raised from the "dead"!
Of course, I have on occasion, been wrong before....Haha!

I think Hotels would be a good place not to mention they are likely needing extra staff (as with the restaurants) given the upcoming convention. Best of luck and welcome!
