Bishop81, you've probably already figured it out that the Pheonix area is only 2 hrs give or take to both Snowbowl resort (Flagstaff) and Apache Sunrise in the White mountains. Both have great skiing/boarding (althought its been a decade since I've personally been- assuming its still great) Theres even a small place on Mt Lemon (Tucson). Its practically 2 hrs anywhere here in Denver area to anyplace past the tunnel.

I am also getting kinda tired of the no let up snow. Tropics sounds good to me already and I usually don't start craving 'till at least last Feb.

Smile Don't move to Phoenix

I currently live in Phoenix and am desperately trying to get out... I just put my house on the market and plan to move to Denver (or possibly Minneapolis) this spring. I reeeaalllyyy don't like this area- it's gotten very crowded, the people are not friendly, people are moving here from everywhere and have esentially created an economy supported by the growth, no depth. Plus, it's dry and ugly- dirt and cookie cutter stucco homes as far as the eye can see.

The worst thing about Phoenix... the weather- it's miserably hot from April to October. October to April can be comfortable but even this time of the year the thermometer often swells past 100. Lots of irrigation have also made this place semi-humid which only adds to the misery. It's not all that great- I'd take your beautiful summers and mild winters with the occasional month long Arctic cold blast over this hot, sweaty and miserable place any day. Needless to say, I'm getting really excited to get out of here!

I grew up for the most part in AZ and I couldn't wait to get away from the dry and ugly heat. Its a great place to visit, but I personally don't think I could ever live there again. (Flagstaff maybe, went to school there, its great)

Right. Snow won't accumulate if the wind blows...plan for this by building a house underground...that way your lot stays flat and all the snow blows over to your neighbors lot. Bitter cold only counts at night...but who's outside at night, eh, I'm inside with the HEAT in the ON position... and a glass of wine.

We went to the National Western Stock Show Tuesday night for PBR Bull Riding. You gotta be crazy to get on an angry bull. Or brave. Or very well paid and rather hungry. Going back on the 18th for Dancing Horses. Just an amazing show of horses, bulls, mules, bison, and even Yaks.

s/Mike

I am going Tuesday for the Super Dogs. I grew up with herding dogs...they are amazing. What a dog will do for us...well kinda like getting on a two ton bull and seeing if you can stick.
