Agreed. I do have to say this though; I been ripped off on Craigslist by hiring a mobile mechanic from there. Person took my deposit and bailed. I researched this guy and he was using a pay-as-you-go phone to operate his business and drove a Lexus 300es (funny and that car was stolen also).

I was in an emergency situation. Just if you hire any mechanic to work on your vehicle, never EVER give them any money or deposit up front or the "excuse" from them that they / he needs money to buy the parts. If the mechanic operates a business they should be able to fund the whole job and collect @ the end. Just make sure you ask what it will cost before they start doing the repairs / estimate

Good luck and I hope you get back on the road.

Yeah no reputable tech will request money for parts up front, mainly because he can usually buy them at wholesale cost, then sell for retail. That's how you make money.

Default thanks!

everyone is very nice on this forum...true coloradians i am assuming

ok here is the deal...about a week ago...my clutch went straight to the floor and i could not put it in gear..it started grinding or making that terrible sound everyone tells you not to make when you are just leaving to drive ..i have a manual by the way...

i researched it and since i only know what is under the hood and NOT what is under the car i went for the advice that said fill the brake fluid...i have a 92 MX3 mazda and i believe the brake fluid works for the clutch and brake????

now, i didn't try to drive it for a week and then i tried it yesterday and pumped the clutch before i started it..the clutch was stiff and back to normal..i had a friend follow me around the neighborhood and it seems as good as new...is that possible????? or am i just having a good couple of days! i bought a lottery ticket just in case that the latter was right....

so any ideas???? thanks for the advice!! i appreciate all the honest people out there..

beth

Sounds like it has a leak. It will work for a while til the fluid gets low again.

Yup, I concur. Sounds to me like either your clutch master cylinder, or slave cylinder has a slow leak. And yes, you can use brake fluid in your clutch master cylinder.

I had a good experience taking my car to Colorado Car Clinic in Englewood. I'd recommend them to anyone.
