Are there many gangsters (AKA gangstas) in Denver?
I wish there was a Great Map of Gangsta Infested Cities so I could examine it and chart my future courses accordingly.
In the meantime, would you say Denver has more than average Gang Related Activities?

If you want to join a gang, I'd recommend the one that throws down with the beer and chicken wings at Hooters.

There is plenty of evidence of gang activity in Denver, and it's pretty widespread (i.e, not just in the inner city). It's mostly (not surprisingly) in the low-income neighborhoods where citizen neglect allows gangs to run around with impunity. Sadly, there's really nowhere in the metro area that won't be within a few mile radius of some gang activity.
Whether Denver's gang issues are more than average depends on who you ask. From my experience, Denver's problems are big, say, compared to a smaller city like Fort Collins. But compared to other cities of its size, I'd say Denver's problems are relatively fewer. In fact, I've seen many cities much smaller than Denver that are grappling with a much larger gang problem (i.e., anywhere in the southwest).

Gangs? in Denver? in Texas?
I see you are from Austin...my old stomping ground! GO HORNS GO!
I lived in Dallas for several years and was a Crisis Counselor in the public school district...I must tell you that Denver's gang problem is not near the level of Texas. I have worked personally with the Dallas Gang Unit and Kudos to them..they have their plate full but keep trying! I do not know about the Denver Gang Unit or how much funding is actually given to them, but I live in an area in which I was told after I rented my home, that there was gang violence. I have yet to see a "gangster" roaming my neighborhood, BUT I have seen several Denver Police doing drive bys to check out things
Bottom line: colorado is awesome...diversity is everywhere and as you know Austin is the capital (within' texas)of Diversity! AMEN.....
Good Luck

The Denver area doesn't have that big of a gang problem, but I'm comparing it to what I know well and that is Los Angeles. I'd say it'd be easier to find wannabes (kids who act and dress like they are gangsters) as opposed to real gang members. There are plenty of wannabes around, here in Aurora for example, they can even be found in the new upper-middle class suburban neighborhoods. I grew up in a heavily-ganged area, it's not too bad, if you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone.

MS-13 is active in the Denver metor area as well as others. Many of the Hispanic gangs are very acitive here as this is a major hub of the illegal immigrant traffic. Not really more dangerous than any other big city, but be aware of your environment.
