Moving from Carrollton TX to Golden CO
I just got a job in Golden CO and we are looking for a place to rent nearby under $900/mo. Our yearly budget is under 50k. We would like a yard for the dog, maybe a trailer, but I couldn't find any trailers for rent. We looked on Craig's List, but I am unsure which area would be the best. We need a big 2 bed, or a small 3 bed place.
Any advice that you could give us on where to move would be great.

I think your budget might be a little on the low side.
25% of your monthly income would be $1200.

I lived on the other side of town, and only drove thru Golden a few times. I found the area to be quite nice. Maybe you could be more specific and ask us about areas nearby you are considering. Your question is too vague. AMLI apartments has a big presence in Denver. Try their website and see if there are any complexes nearby. I think the price is a bit low for a 2-3 bedroom, unless you are looking for some old run-down place in a bad neighborhood.

Wow , 50k a year in Golden. I don't think that will work very well. I have been searching for a house under 190K with a two car garage. Nothing , and I mean nothing comes up any where near walking distance of downtown. The price of admission to golden is high.
I would concentrate your apartment hunt in Arvada, Wheat Ridge, and western Lakewood.
I moved here from Dallas and the cost of living in comparison is so different. Living is so much more here. And the closer you want to live to the mountains the cost goes up rapidly.
Good luck with your hunt!

wankel7 & masalamamma...I agree..I told my husband last night to try in those other areas you mentioned. He is working in the same building as the "School of Mines", so that is why we were looking in Golden. I know the cost of living is much higher in Colorado, but this is where we want to raise our future children and the ones we have now so they can experience 4 seasons and , I think anyways, better quality of life. Just being near the mountains is reason enough for me. It is hard leaving Texas though because my parents are older and we are real close, but I have to do what is right for me and our family...anyways..before I get off on a rant..thank you to everyone that has posted..I do appreciate it ALOT!!
