There is no such thing as an AIA license just to clarify. AIA is a big social club for architects who are licensed. The registry that comes out anually will state your name and the name of the firm you work for your licenses and you pay 750. a year for membership. Many architects don't even belong to it.

thank you for clarifying, I had always assumed that the AIA had something to do with the licensing.

Well I messed up big time, I'm sorry for the wrong info! My husband just corrected me. It has nothing to do w/ licensing, but you can join AIA as long as you have $750.00, so go ahead and join! You can put AIA on your business cards and it will be a good tax deduction!

P.S. Noahma, please don't ever call yourself a lowly designer. You are working very hard and striving towards your goals. Don't sell yourself short!

Thank you, I am defiantly happy with the work I do. I have more of the ladder to climb, but it will have to take a while.

It's just a social club, but you yourself can join and put AIA behind your name on your card.

Urban neighborhoods in Denver are not necessarily any less vehicle-dependent (whether that's a bus or your own car) than designated "suburban" neighborhoods. There is no reason why suburban areas cannot be retrofitted with more public transportation.
|
Those busses that show up to your house and take you the 4 miles to the closest grocery store for a gallon of milk -- they are EVERYWHERE in the county.

To whom are you making this comparison? Africa? India? Would you rather we live in the third world?
|
Honestly? That's it? Either we support the arrogant notion that oil and a large yard (in the desert) are our god given right or we live in the third world? I'd say any European would have a field day with that notion. I'd say, with some experience in this area, that third world nations have a whole lot to teach us.

I am tired of freedom hating people like you who want to see people downgrade their lifestyles to fit into their agenda. If someone wants drive 45 minutes to work or have a house with an indoor pool or have 6,000 square feet that is their God-given right.
|
And I tire of paying to protect a stupid way of life by paying higher taxes to support said stupidity. Norway went though a similar situation recently. It turns out just because you can build it, the rest of us should not have to support it.
This is a serious question? I'd say it is time to start watching things outside of Fox News.

2) As suburb housing prices rise, so does downtown housing rise as well, it doesn't make downtown lofts more affordable.
|
The whole "ghettofication" aspect makes that a non reality. Prices could of course rise with inflation though ....

suburbs do provide jobs, broomie with its high-tech corporations, thus you can work and live in the burbs.
|
To an extent, but your reference to broomfield brings a couple of interesting caveats. No one up there from a tech perspective is doing well at all.

That's why I'm excited to move to Denver... I can live in Englewood, hop the rail, and be downtown without using my cage.

Another motorcycle rider on the forum. Cool.
