Default Lakeside Mall?

Hey does anyone know what is going in where the old Lakeside Mall used to be? It's at like Sheridan and 44th. I'm so curious!

What?? You mean to tell me they are tearing it down??? That is where I shopped growing up! I can't believe that!
Darn,....when my Mom and Sister visit in September, we were going to go there. My Mom used to be a store detective at the old Denver Dry there.
I can't believe it! Now I'm curious to see what will be there too!

There's been several other posts on this, but nobody seems to know. I'd guess lots of retail, including big box. The town of lakeside wants their sales tax money back.

Over here on my side of town, they recently tore down Buckingham Square Mall- I've heard that they're putting in an apartment complex. Hopefully they will find something more productive to do with the land at Lakeside.

From some friends that live close to Lakeside, have told me that it will be mixed use. Shops on the lower levels and residential on the upper floors (3 stories). Somewhat like the old Cinderella City area. They have also been told about an "anchor" store going in also but havent comfirmed that.

I live near Buckingham Square too and I've heard that it's going to be one of those bland, mixed-use "lifestyle center" type of complexes that all look the same (with dick's sporting goods, home depot, etc.)

I don't see how it could be anyworse than what is there right now.... Empty concrete hulk of a mall or a brand new mixed use center... hmmm

Oh, I don't disagree. I sometimes go to the Target but had never been inside of the mall prior to its demolition. It's nice to see that the parcel of land is going to be used for something, although it seems like those complexes with exactly the same stores (target/dicks/home depot) are practically everywhere! I don't dislike large corporations or big-box stores, but I'd love to see a few locally-owned stores thrown into the mix, or even something like a DazBog coffee.
