Hi all, I've just recently moved here and am trying to figure out the best way to navigate afternoon rush hour traffic going from Colfax/Colorado Blvd. to Greenwood Village. I have been just taking Colorado down to I-25 and then getting off at one of the exits (Belleview or Orchard). Is that the best way or is there some other alternative? I'm sorta just resigned to having some congestion on Colorado and I-25, although it's certainly much better than some parts of the country where I've lived.

You could try taking University or Broadway south to Belleview, but honestly I willing to bet that I-25 is the fastest way. You think it's bad now? You should have seen it a couple years ago when they were still doing the TRex project on I-25 and before the light rail was installed there...

If he loves dinosaurs, be sure to take him to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, they have some *great* exhibits...

but actually, TRex was the name for a huge construction project on the major stretch of I-25 through Denver. It took many years to complete, and basically reorganized and widened the highway to make it more efficient. It has nothing to do with dinosaurs. Sorry to get your hopes up...

No kidding... I-25 southbound is a breeze now compared to 5 or 10 years ago. I-25 was a congested mess between downtown and the suburbs in both directions- TREX has really helped alot.

I agree with co_native_sweetie- I-25 is probably your fastest route- at least if there is no traffic, you can drive 65 or 70 mph rather than getting stuck at a line of traffic lights.

Well, I agree I-25 is not too bad especially with that short of a stretch I'm on. It's mostly getting to I-25 that's the rough part. Is it always this bad on Colorado Blvd?

I have lived in Denver for that past 50+ years and really know my way around. Unforunately, I too live near Colorado Blvd. and 6th Ave. and find the fastest way to the I-25 & Orchard area is via Colorado Blvd. south to I-25. In the heat of battle during rush hour, I sometimes try going south on University Blvd. But, the extra time it takes to drive west and then back east again is just never faster than waiting for the traffic on Colorado Blvd. If we have a major snow storm in town, then I find University Blvd. is actually faster since Colorado Blvd. comes to a complete stop.

I work off Uni & Mississippi - I take Uni all the way to Dad Clark in HR to cross over to Broadway.

Try Colfax to Monoco.
