I am torn. Although I love the city I would like a "safer , tight knit community" the burbs just makes me feel people tend to be to themselves?
My husband will be working and I think he will have better success finding a good chef position in the city.
In my opinion coming from Lahaina, Maui. I am looking for the action and "things to do" in close proximity.
If there were a sub that had a main drag with smaller boutiques and with in walking distance, perfect.
at least in the denver area a lot of the suburban areas we saw seem to be the opposite. where we were looking in parker they had popular neighborhood holiday activities and such.. bbqs, halloween stuff, etc

the neighborhoods seem tight knit, much more so than the neighborhoods im familiar with in socal where i live currently

Wink Wash park

Hi. I wouldn't count out Wash Park. I moved here from PA last year and, just by luck, found a cute little house on S. Pennsylvania Street that my husband, 11 month old and I have been happily living in. This is such a great neighborhood and lots of kids. The park is in walking distance and we are conveniently located close to everything. It really is a great place for families and a very safe area. It is pricey, though, and that is why we can't buy here. It's just not in our budget unfortunately. There are also mommy groups around the area and, did I mention Wash Park right down the road?! I LOVE this area and we will be sad to move. Just to give you an idea of home prices: we live in a 1200 square foot house (prob built in the 1800-1900's), have 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, laundry room, kitchen, family/dining room, a little nook used for our desk, fenced in back yard with a cheap looking deck and a one car garage..oh and two ac units. This house would go for somewhere around mid 300K. Our yard isn't very big at all, but it is nice.

Well, you should definitely check out my neighborhood. I think you will find everything you want right here. Grocery store/Kmart/Sams Club/safeway are less than 10 minutes away and Walmart is about 10 mins away. You have Cherry Creek Mall about 10 minutes away as well and restaurants on Colorado Blvd are about the same distance. Email me at sunflowers00@gmail.com if you want to talk more about this wonderful neighborhood !!!

Ciao,
Patsy

Default Stapleton?

Can someone please tell me where Stapleton is located? It seems I recognize the name from the previous airport, but could not locate it on an area map. We're looking to move to the area also, thanks!

Northeast Denver. I'm not sure of all the cross streets. North of I-70 and east of Colorado Blvd.

My husband may be taking a job in Denver as well. We have a 2.5 year old and another on the way. I would like a family oriented community with great schools, shopping and some character, as we are coming from San Francisco. We are looking at Littleton and Englewood, but I'm unsure where in Littleton is the best place, as it seems rather large. We don't want to spend more than $600k as we are trying to get AWAY from the super high cost of living. Which neighborhoods in Littleton or Englewood would you recommend?

Stapleton is south of I-70, (although the mall is North, the highschool will be there too and some housing may be on that side on 10 years).

It is bounded by 20th on the south, Quebec on the west, Havana at the east (although there are some houses going in east of Havana) and Smith Rd to the north.

The city of Littleton isn't all that big, but there is lots of unincorporated area in Jefferson County that has Littleton addresses. Highlands Ranch in Douglas County also can use Littleton addresses, and I believe Centennial can, too. Make sure you know what county and what school district you are actually looking at. I found it confusing when we first started looking for a house here. You can buy a lot of house here for $600,000, compared with SF! For that much money, you might look at the Homestead neighborhood in Centennial (is that what it is called? Now I'm doubting myself). near Quebec and Arapahoe.
