Smile hoping to relocate

I am 29 and single, looking to start over in Denver. I am moving from Delaware, which is quite far. I have never done anything like this and I am not sure where to begin. I have done a lot of research and looked at a lot of apartments but iti is hard to tell whether they are in a good neighborhood or not. I am moving with my 2 large dogs and I am not planning on having a job until I get there but I want to have an apartment. It would be nice to have a job but I dont know if its possible. How hard is this going to be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Default hopefully a little help

Hi-u sound like u r doing the same thing I am!!! I'm sigle, have a dog, and am moving from NY to Denver in September to start over as well and have been doing tons of research online about apts. and neighborhoods. What I can tell you after filling out several applications for complexes is this, if you don't have employment as of right now, they may not even consider you-I have been self-employed for 3 months, had to submit tax returns and bank statements, and was still told no because my income to asset ratio was not desirable. They want to see money coming in, preferably 2.5 times the monthly rent. But, here's the good news, if you have good salary history, and are looking in the price range of 600-1000 for a place, u may have better luck...and they also might just want a co-signer for you. Don't know if you'll run into the same problems as me, but, if you do, go to craigslist.com and type in downtown denver, and the rest of your chosen info, and u can find a lot of really cute places!!!! Might be your best bet....GOOD LUCK!!!!!

thanks so much for your help. I have been looking at craigs list a lot. Im going to try to get a job online before I get there. At this point I'll take any job just so I have one until I find something better. I've been a bartender for 8 years and I have an associates degree in math education. I dont have much experience with much. Anyone got any advice?

I am in the same boat. I bit the bullet and moved last week. I found a 2 month sublease on craigslist which for me was better than signing a year lease and finding work on the other side of town and having to commute 45 minutes to an hour. Plus I didn't have to pay a deposit and no job verification was needed. Not sure how big your dogs are but many apartment complexes have weight/breed restrictions so that may alter your search a bit. The job market is pretty tough here, I have applied to numerous jobs and haven't gotten anywhere as of yet. I am mainly looking in the banking/investment industry though. I'm sure you will have no problem finding bartending work with your experience.

Best of luck!! Denver is a great city, can't wait til I find a job so I can actually afford to do something!
