Never been there, I'm wondering too about the seating. Would appreciate if someone who's been there can describe it.

It is a walkway, just a little wider then other rows. People will walk in front of you, just like any other venue. Depending on the concert, it goes from a little annoyance to a serious distraction.
I like to sit in the middle, just right of the sound board.

Anyone taken a taxi home from Red Rocks after a show??
Hi there!!
A friend and I are going to a show at Red Rocks tomorrow night and think we should probably plan on a taxi home --- does anyone have a good recommendation for a taxi service that goes out there and is RELIABLE?? I've had some bad experiences with taxi companies, and just want to make sure we're not stranded out there!!!
Thanks

Have you already been to a Red Rocks show before, hence the bad experiences?
Red Rocks is one of the most glorious places in Colorado, and an incredible concert venue, but getting out of there is an exercise in patience at best, and kinda chaotic at worst.
I can't even picture trying to find my cab there. Maybe you could find/choose a designated driver?
I don't consider myself an uptight person at all, but RR is one place where I never partied much.
The concerts never needed very much enhancement.
Just my .

Pre-concert scene at Red Rocks?
Finally checking this one off our must-do list. We're heading to the Depeche Mode concert on Thursday.
Looking for some insight/local info on traffic getting to concert - do we have to get there insanely early? does Morrison get completely jammed up before a concert? can you stop in and eat somewhere or do you need reservations? are there better places to park than others? do you step down to your seats, climb up, or both?
Any tips/info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

Been a while since I'd been to a Red Rocks concert, but does the word Tailgate ring a bell?
[wondering what a Depesh Mode <sic> tailgate party would consist of; a spot of tea and snorting sweet-n-low?]

As McGowdog says, you can tailgate. Back in the day, I would take the day off of work and we'd go there really, really early. I'm not sure people do that anymore. The thing is, there really aren't any tricks or special spots to park that I can remember. It's not as if there is a hidden alley or off-road space.
Over the years, we tried everything, but ultimately just parked in the lot.
You climb up a ways, and step down a little, as I recall.
The worst part is at the *end* of the concert.
If it is a really good concert, you're not going to leave early.
So afterwards, you know you're going to just be sitting in your car awhile because it takes forever for that bottlenecked lot to empty out.
It's worth it.
Looks like the Morrison Inn (Mexican) is still there, not sure how good the food is these days.

Ah, tailgating - definitely a good option! I've been itching to eat in Morrison, such a cute funky town, but perhaps that is best saved for a night of its own.
Off to check into when the parking lots open...

It's been a few years since I've done a Red Rocks concert, but at that time the parking lots would open at 2 p.m. They might do things differently but when I went you had general admission the first twenty rows or so. The next 40 or 50 rows were reserved seating, and the rest was general admission again.
As the parking lot opened at 2, so did the gate, which worked out great IF you just had a general admission ticket. That way you could get a seat up close if you wanted. Again, it's been several years since I've been there and policy might have changed.
It's one of the best concert venues in the United States. Have a great time!

Hey guys, I've merged about six small "Red Rocks" threads into one thread, and listed it in the index under EVENTS...
