Denver to Red Rocks
Does RTD provide busing to Red Rocks Amphitheater? This summer I want to go to some shows there but the last thing I want to deal with is driving there. Is there a shuttle service that takes you up to the main entrance to avoid the 560,000 steps? Thanks in advance.

It is not a bad drive at all. I can get there from Capitol Hill within 30 minutes. Parking is just fine, it is getting out that can be troublesome as everyone leaves at the same time from the concerts. If I sense a show is ending, I will begin making my way toward the parking lots while still enjoying the last one or two songs. Or if it is a great night with the weather, which almost every night is in the summer, even on the hot days, I will just just sit and people watch for about 30 minutes and then head for the lots slowly. check out the free films they show in the summer to test out a smaller crowd. I am taking a visitor, Daniel T, up there on Sunday and hope that the Easter Dawn Mass crowd will be gone by 9:00 or so, and that they aren't too rowdy.

Arriving at Red Rocks is easy. The steps are fine--good exercise before the show. The view is gorgeous.
Leaving a Red Rocks concert is always a pain in the rear end.
It just is--no getting around it, other than leaving way before the end of the concert, which I can't imagine doing.
As Aztec says, your exit strategy might include easing your way out, trying to enjoy the concert's last few songs as you go.
However, if you are *really* enjoying the show (Springsteen, 1978, Neil Young, 2000, White Stripes, 2005, heavy, contented sigh) it is impossible to tear yourself away.
There were a couple times in the old days where we parked along the road; I think maybe you can still do that, but it's a long walk in the dark, so the benefit is minimal.
There is nothing like a Red Rocks concert. You just have to embrace the experience.

I'm flying into Denver on June 3 for the REM show at Red Rocks and would like to know the best way to get out there without renting a car. Anyone have any ideas? All opinions are welcome.
Thanks!

I'm just putting in a second message so I can set it to track the thread and notify me when someone responds.

Red Rocks Ampitheater
Hi everyone,
I'm going to the Police Concert tomorrow at Red Rocks and I was wondering if any locals could cue me in on what I should bring. I'm considering going out and buying a stadium chair or pad today. Is that really needed? What sort of seating device would you recommend?
Thanks!

check their web site. i think you can take in a stadium seat, and some food and drinks, but I don't know specifics.

Thanks, I checked it out. Can you recommend what kind of seat would be best? I'm at a loss of what kind of portable seat would work best there.

Sorry, I can't. I was supposed to see the Foo Fighters last week, and had read up on what we could and couldn't bring. Then the show was postponed, so I haven't been to a concert there yet.
