Your favorite street in Denver (stores, places to eat, metro)

South Broadway is great, Santa Fe has some fantastic food but Colfax wins over everything for the diversity. Food, beer, drugs, bum fights, hookers, glass pipes, car washes, great music venues .... Colfax has it all.

When we first moved to Denver in the mid 90's we rented a carriage house from a fantastic hippie-ish couple off of Colfax and High.

Our bedroom window offered a view of the two (not there now) parking spaces on the opposite side of the alleyway where the girls that worked the Satire did many of their "deeds."

The negotiations were sometimes priceless, listening as you try to fall asleep to some middle aged man haggle over the price of a hummer versus anal, etc. Now and then I would wreck the process by yelling out the open window on a hot summer night "the last guy got it for 20!"

This ended one afternoon by my being confronted by a real in the person pimp -- convertible caddy with plush interior, cane, hat -- the works. I laughed so hard at the time that he eventually gave up with the here and now threats and just warned me to stop with some other future promised threats thrown in.

Not long after Denver cracked down on the girls and they were force to move east into Aurora.

yeah, they have crack downs a lot. And then after awhile, they come back. I lived on Williams and Colfax in a house that was wedged between another house. I'd come home to find people copulating in between the homes.

Once my husband (we were all friends back then) caught this guy who pulled down his pants and started to take a crap in the back yard!! I saw the same stuff when I lived on Race and Colfax. I've lived all over the Hill actually for at least 15 years and saw a lot of stuff. The Colfax bus (15) can be quite entertaining too. Once I had a pimp sit on one side of me and his hooker on the other and they got into this huge argument!
