Single 28 year old gal - move to Denver?
I'm a born-and-bred New Yorker who has been itching for a less noisy, friendlier, greener place to live. Would love some input on whether a newly-single, 28 year old gal would be happy here? Ideally, I'd love a decent "downtown" scene (art, theatre, music, bookstores, a decent selection of bars) but without the trendy, expensive, "ultra-chic" New York vibe. Just looking to relocate somewhere that has a progressive, young, vibrant culture without the hipster attitude. I'd also love to know if there's housing in walking distance of things to do, or if I'd need to bring my car everywhere (definitely appreciate the pedestrian-friendly aspect of NY). Thanks for your input!

what do you mean by greener... environmentally friendly or just greener vegetation? you can't get much greener than the east coast. everything out here is brown or yellow. it is hot and dry.
capitol hill area might be a good fit for you.

I'm thinking of LoDo b/c of parallels to Hoboken, NJ or even the upscale part of Cherry Creek.

It's funny you sound exactly like a friend, she's a blogger from NYC, try capitol hill or wash park area.

To the OP, happily married guy here. I think you get the point. Too many single guys here!
Seriously though, I don't live in Denver anymore, but I hear the online dating thing is a fantastic way to meet people and give it a try and if things don't work out, no hard feelings. You move on and give it another try. Well this online dating thing in Denver is supposed to be as good as anywhere in the nation. Something else, someone on here posted a link that showed where in the country had an abundance of women over men; from DC to NY and up into the NE states! Way more women than men! Denver is said to have slightly more men than women, so...the scales would be tipped in your favor.
I'd just hope Denver would have enough culture and stuff (art, theatre, music, bookstores, a decent selection of bars) to keep you interested. Obviously it's no Manhattan, but we've got a bit of that and some outdoor activities, 4 seasons, low humidity and warm summer nights, crisp and cool winter nights...You might like it.
If you give it a chance, I hope you enjoy it. Denver is a bit more quiet and spread out compared to the City and the public transportation is going in the right direction. Many here can help you nail down the best place to live and be near enough to the action. Most bars kinda shut down at 2 here. (I'm there in my head! I haven't lived there for 8 years!)

Hey there! I'm in a similar situation. I am a 28 year old single gal looking to relocated to Denver from NYC. Been here 5 years, but I'm itching for something new. Been to Denver many times as my sister lives there. I've been doing some research as well on areas to live, etc. I want to be somewhere that is city-like. Also, anyone know about HR jobs in Denver?

another newly single 28-year old here. I think this place is awesome if you are single..TONS of single men all around!
My favorite hoods-Wash Park, City Park/Congress Park, and parts of Cap. Hill. Did an 8 month stint in LoDo, and although I had fun while I was there, was paying WAY too much in rent, and most of the bars/clubs aren't really my thing.

LOL! As someone else said, it can't get any browner here. I from Philly, and it took a while to get used to the browns and earthtones. Now I think its beautiful and when I go back east I have to shield my eyes from all the green! Unless its irrigated, its brown here,
Anyway, the Denver area is a great place to live. Lots of outdoor things to do and a big city if you want nightlife, and culture. Check out the LODO district, prolly the hippest part of Denver. You sound like you'd be happy in Highlands (not Highlands Ranch) or Washington Park (Wash Park).
