As a recent visitor to the Denver metro, it seemed as though gas stations were not located near the Interstate highways/freeways. On several occassions, I'd have to drive up to a mile away from the interstates to find a gas station, and then on other occassions, I'd drive a mile or so to discover that the particular road onto which I exited from the freeway did not have a gas station, even up to a mile away. This is unlike any other place I've seen. Are zoning codes put in place in the Denver area that limit gas stations, or prevent them from being located near freeways. I'm curious, for it is different.
