Englewood City Center
Hey everyone. I need your help. I will be moving to Denver in a week from Vermont. I received a job in Englewood, which is 7 minutes west from the Englewood city center. I was wondering about your thoughts on the neighborhood. Is it nice? Is it a safe place to live? Or should I look somewhere else?
I will take any commons about the place and suggestions on other places. Thank you for your time. Marek

I live in Englewood and think it is a nice place to live.
There is an apartment complex at the city center itself called the Alexan. It is right next to the lightrail, library and a variety of stores and restaraunts. A few blocks East of the City center is downtown Englewood which also has stores and restaraunts. Englewood has a nice rec center, some good parks and bike trails. It is a working class older suburb of Denver.

I have to agree, the old area of Englewood is a great place to live. You have light rail access and shopping closeby. You are right down the road from one of the best hospitals, Swedish, and the associated clinics. In addition, there is access to good shopping up and down Broadway. The area is good walkable area.
However, if you are working west of Englewood then I would assume you are working somewhere in Lakewood or Jefferson County, along West Hampden. There are good neighborhoods in this area that border Bear Creek and the paths and parks alongside. I like the neigborhood, at Sheridan and Darthmouth because it has a library a King Soopers, access to the Park. It is also down the road from a neighborhood, that I consider a hidden gem in Denver, the Harvey Park Neighborhood off of Evans and Sheridan. If you go west toward Wadsworth, following the Hampden on the Northside, you will get into good Lakewood neighborhoods and past Kipling, to Bear Creek Lake Park.

If you live off of 285 west of Englewood you are close to both light rail and the mountains, since it's mostly a highway rather than stop-and-go traffic. We live off of Kipling and 285 and it's like 10 minutes to light rail due to the highway but it's a good safe neighborhood and very close to hiking.

thank you all for replying. I decided to go with the Alexan apartments. The price is good and it is only 7 minutes away from work. Hopefully the complex is nice and the people living there are ok.
If anyone has any insights about Alexan apartments, that would be great. Thank you all again.

The Alexan looks nice from the outside, I've never been inside. It's a great location. Let us know how you like it once you get here. Good luck with your move.

I am curious about this area as well...but more specifically, the area bordering Ogden Park. I've checked the stats, and I've read alot about it being a very violent area with heavy gang influence, and then about it being a nice place to live.
How much of that is correct?

There's an Ogden St. in Englewood but no Ogden Park. Are you sure you aren't thinking about Ogden park in Englewood, IL just outside of Chicago?

My mom has been in the same house in Englewood since 1964. To this day she still feels quite safe there.
