Give me a break, guys! Hacienda is not "gross"-- not by any stretch of the imagination. Their food is bland, without a doubt, but there's nothing "gross" or "disgusting" about it. It's not very high on my list of places to eat, but I'd rather eat something bland than something that will make me sick.

Actually as far as bad goes, I've only been in an Armadillo once, and when they tried to pass off a bowl of ketchup for salsa, we walked out. Before the salsa was brought out, I was already scared, they had crab enchiladas that had the notation (Krab). ick Not that other places don't use the same stuff, but it grossed me out seeing it in print. Anyone try Que Bueno in Westminster? Do the servers all just hate their jobs? I've tried them 3 times now and everytime the service was awful. I sent them an email and no one bothered to write back so I've written them off my list.

I'm sorry, it is gross.
But to each their own!

ha! that's funny Kat (and Vegas)! I have a friend who is always going on and on about Armadillo. I think they are just disgusting. But she loves it. Oh well, it's not a deal breaker for the friendship!

Where's all the good Mexican food?
We visit Colorado at least once a year, usually the San Luis Valley area since we own property there. I think we've tried 4 different restaurants in Alamosa and have yet to find one we would rate above mediocre. (The last place we tried had salsa seasoned with Italian type spices - blech!).
Next summer we'll be staying closer to Denver (Idaho Springs).
Sure would like to know the names and locations of some good Mexican restaurants in Colorado.

Di: I moved your posting to this thread in the Denver forum, as there's a lot of info in this thread. There are more, look in index for each city under "food" for the listing.
If you're driving in and passing through Pueblo, there is some serious good Mexican food there, details in this thread.

Really? I heard their bar setting (downtown location, off of Broadway?) is less than desirable. But I'm interested in their green chile!
