Possibly New to Denver is on a distinguished road
Default Need to know a little about Denver

Hello, I have been given the opportunity to move to Denver for Business. I have been looking for residence in the 80202 zip code. Please can someone tell me what they think of this area and what is the average one pays in Utilities? I am in the process of negotiating my pay scale and I need to know how much I would need to live comfortible. How much do you pay in taxes? What is the percent taken out of your checks? How much do you pay for car insurance?

Thanks much,

80202 is downtown Denver. Presumably, you're looking at a condominium or apartment in this zip code. Utilities will be dependent on the age of your building, the size of your place and also what utilities may be included in your HOA. Chances are, in most condo buildings, utilities are not going to be a signficant part of your budget. Rent, however, is going to be astronomically expensive -- I doubt you'll find much of anything in downtown Denver for less than $1500.00 a month. I'd highly recommend you look into Capitol Hill (zip 80203) as an alternative to Downtown Denver -- it's much more affordable.

As for taxes, state taxes are a flat 4.63% of income, and yes, it usually is withheld from your paycheck.

Car insurance depends entirely on your driving history -- I'd say your car insurance rates likely will not change from whereever you are now.

Outside of the tax issue every one of your questions requires more information as there are too many variables involved.
