We are moving to Denver in the spring. We were there recently and liked the Washington Park area. Is that a good location for a young family? Is there a better neighborhood that is close to the light rail? We would prefer to rent at first until we settle on where we will work. Are there any decent apartments in Washington Park area?

There are very few apartments, decent or otherwise, in Washington Park.

What few apartments there are tend to be on the west side of Washington Park, within a few blocks of Broadway.

You may be better off looking for a half duplex rental. Washington Park has lots of those.

Also, if you're looking for something close to light rail, Platt Park, south of I-25, might fit the bill.

Most of the existing apartments are going to be older. I wouldn't classify them family material. There are many rental houses around the area. I recommend craigslist

I would like to echo tfox's recommendation of Platte Park. It's a really nice neighborhood close to Wash Park, a little more affordable, and right on the light rail.

My nephew rented a half-duplex in Wash Park. It was small, old, badly kept, etc. Basically a dump. I agree with Platt Park, also the DU area. There are lots of apts there.
