Now I'm new to the Denver area, I'm not sure how things work around here but when I went to the dentist the other day he told me that I needed a crown and a filling.

Ok, I already knew that, but when he told me that it was going to cost $1200 I thought I was in the twilight zone!

So I called my old dentist and even he said that was a little high.

So does anyone have any clue where I can go and not spend that kind of money??

A gold onlay, a set of x-rays and a general filling could easily run that much.

Last root canal and crown I got cost me around $600, and that was WITH insurance. Dental work is a total rip off!

A woman I used to work with had cancer and went through all the treatment and is now cancer free, but she pointed out that getting cured of cancer was cheaper with insurance than a root canal is!

Just curious, but did this happen to be at Comfort Dental? I now know of two people who have been seriously (actually the one didn't pay and got his work done for half the price) ripped off there. I'm wondering what kind of outift they are running.

Yup.

Anyone have any ideas where I won't get taken for a ride?

That is about what it costs (use to be a dental hygenist for an ortho)
it is ridiculous...proves you have to get screwed to chew...

no no no, this is outrageous. And did you have insurance pyrotec? I'm telling you guys, Comfort Dental is running a scam. My husband saw someone at Perfect Teeth and paid half the cost quoted at Comfort Dental. Now why is that???

What you could do is get a copy of the XRay, and just
say the price is high, and you need to get a second opinion. People where you live I also would ask them who they use, and call the office and get a general price. Finding a good dentist who is honest is hard. There was an article in readers digest you can google it which had a person who had all
his dental done then when to different dentist around the country and
what they told him about his teeth etc., I think also 60minutes also had this on. I have paid around 800.00 for crowns, never had that root canal.
I was told I needed one, and we did decide to just stay with the temp crown for 1 year and redo xrays. I didnot need the root canal.
