That depends on where you are in the metro area. If by "Denver", you actually mean Castle Rock, then it's probably not diverse. If you mean the city of Denver, it's very diverse. Within the city limits, white people are either a minority or close to it.

I could not agree more. I just moved from Florida and can tell you that despite the heavy influence of minorities there, there is a not-so-subtle form of racism there that I was shocked to see.
I am sorry that that guy from Australia is so narrow-minded as to group all of us together because of one dumb comment (which may have been made by someone who doesn't even live in Colorado).
I don't think that not having large minority populations makes Colorado racist. Maybe those who are not White or Hispanic want to live somewhere else. I think racism comes from ignorance and Colorado (in my opinion) has a lot of educated people who welcome everyone as long as they are willing to work and assimilate. There are idiots everywhere, but in my neighborhood in particular, there are a lot of ethnic groups and everyone seems to get along because we are all in the same economic class. I think that makes a difference more than the color of someone's skin.

just curious, and most definitely not trying to pick a fight (this has to do with a thesis I've thought about), how many posting on this thread are non-white?

The only way for a place to be divers,is for that place to be like inner city Detroit?Have you look into the Denver Demographics section?

Just curious,why isn't that they are so many people who love to search city-data looking for predominantly white area and than post thread bitching about the area being to white and not diverse enough..?As if this in itself his something to be ashamed off?
How many times have I red on city-data weather on the Denver section or elsewhere people saying matter of fatly "i'm looking for a place that is not too white"-"i don't want my kid in a school that is "too full" of whites"-"i know XYZ city looks to be very white,where can i go(in that city)that isn't?"
Now why is that acceptable?
Can a white person ask on this site(or any other)the same type questions but in reverse in the NYC,Detroit,D.C.,Chicago,L.A.,Atlanta,New Orleans Ect. sections?

I think what bothers me the most about people who get upset about Denver not being diverse enough is that some seem to act (at least in my opinion) like there is some sort of reason for this -- as if intolerance has driven all of the non-white people away. I don't think Denver has ever been as diverse, as say, L.A. or DC or Miami, and it's not like there are signs posted on the Colorado border that warn minorities to stay away. It's just how it is!
I'm not afraid of diversity by any means, but it's not usually my #1 priority when I'm choosing a place to live.

wow, all quiet on my question except for Ratt. Ratt: Perhaps you are not aware of what a thesis is. It is research done and submitted when one is trying to obtain a Master's degree. Usually this research is done in an attempt to better society and understand it's problems. This is a very busy thread and lots of opinions on Denver, and that's why I asked for the number of non-whites on this thread who are giving their opinion of diversity in Denver.

I gone beyond white or black or gay or straight.
I past what is young, cute, smart and sharp.
I conquered ambitions, desires and wants.
Whenever I get where I see I will be;
I pass the idea, that was me.
I approach the age where wisdom is.
But I know that I will pass through with more or less,
And I will not know that I past what I met.
I know that I will pass through the end of me;
I hope that I do know what I will not see.

Denver, and Colorado in general, seems like a state that epitomizes a more integration like attitude. Despite the low amount of particular minorities, since people in Colorado (and especially Denver) seem to have more of a progressive-minded and live-and-let-live mentality, minorities are more able to successfully integrate and assimilate into the Colorado majority population, particularly if they share the same values and are in the same socioeconomic class as the majority. Now IMO, this is a lot better than diversity where either all races stay in their enclaves or play impress-the-white-race game by using using underrepresented minorities as scapegoats. And for all of you diversity seekers and freaks, look at how it's "worked" on the East Coast and Northeast, then talk to me.
