Congress Park
Hey everyone! I'll be moving to Denver from Hawaii this December & I've never been there. Any thoughts about the Congress Park area?

I like it.
It's pretty, centrally located, and has many amenities, not the least of which is the park (with pool) as well as Denver Botanic Gardens.

It really is a beautiful neighborhood - small and historic. Lots of deciduous trees so right now it must be gorgeous with color. I almost bought a house there a year ago. Not only Botanic Gardens and Cheeseman Park, but you can also walk to Cherry Creek (a la-de-da shopping & restaurant district). There's a lot of price range in the houses, from 200K to over a million with most in the 500K range, I would guess. Some really nice historic restorations. The northern edge is along Colfax Ave which some would say is the least desirable part of the neighborhood, but I think Colfax has tons more character than the Cherry Creek side (south).
One downside might be traffic noise. 6th & 8th streets are one-way and noisy. Seventh is a beautiful parkway with two lanes bisected by a midway with mature trees - not so noisy because it has lots of stop signs. My partner nixed the neighborhood because of the noise factor. It depends on your tolerance for that.

One of the best neighborhoods in Denver due to being established and well kept. Agree with most of the above but traffic not too bad other then a few streets. Most of it is quiet. I will post some pictures soon.

I definitely agree with all of the above about CP -- great park, great neighborhood.
I do agree with the poster above who commented that one downside might be heavily trafficked streets including 6th, 8th, Colorado, and Colfax. (Yes, technically CP goes all the way up to Colfax) Speaking of which, the northern section north of about 12th 13th or so is heavily rental and mostly cut up into units, so keep that in mind -- of course if you're interested in renting that may be a good thing, but that's the situation. Southern part is more owner occupied.
You might also want to consider schools as well, and CP fares pretty well in that category relative to other Denver neighborhoods. I'm not currently aware of where the school boundary lines are but you'd want to try to get into Bromwell or Steck if you can -- at least at one time the southern portion of CP tended to feed into one of those two schools. Teller is actually pretty decent, by DPS standards at least, but not as good as the other two.

I love congress park! Super close to downtown, historical, and close to pretty much everything you need. Mall, Groceries, Highways, Bars, Etc.
