What are
the names of the areas in Denver that are most city-like? Most densly populated with young professionals and a lot of restaurants, bars, etc. around?
thanks,

I would say (in this general order):
LoDo
Uptown/City Park West
Capitol Hill
East Highland
Do a search of the forums - there have been quite a few threads on this.

Colorado
Hi - I also suggest LoDo (Lower Downtown) area. There are nice lofts, good bars and restaurants, easy access in/out of the city, and very close to Coor Field baseball stadium. Good luck!

Lodo sucks to live in but is great to visit.
No grocery stores, no gas stations, loud drunk 20 something idiots every night of the week at 1-2am. Hard to find parking etc.
Uptown, Capitol Hill, Cheeseman Park. Baker.

Steve... based on the OPs question, you say it sucks, but it sounds like it's just what the OP is looking for. All those traits say "most city-like" to me.

Same, it doesn't feel like a rural area to me.

I'm with SteveinDenver on this one and would highly recommend Capitol Hill on this one. The reason: population density. Not all that many people actually live in LoDo. LoDo wins in the "nightlife-density" department, but Capitol Hill is no slouch in its own nightlife either.

I've been in Capitol Hill 6 months now and it's great, lots of cool bars, interesting characters, plenty of nearby amenity's. Lodo on the other hand is the one spot in this town i felt most unsafe and not because of any criminal element, it was more of the extremely drunk, angry, obnoxious "going to the club" mentality many of the people around had. Give me Gabors, Sanchos or Streets any day over a lodo club.

I have been on the hill for over 20 years and would never live in LoDo, at least not until they get a grocery store, hardware store, trees and folks my age. My nephew who is 26 and a sports fanatic loves it there but has to drive out of the area for groceries and DVD rentals. LoDo is still establishing itself and it is fun to visit but I would choose Capitol Hill (Governor's Park), Baker, South City Park and Uptown first. Potter Highlands is nice but no real nightlife at the moment.
