Another option: You can also take the canyon (which is also numbered 6) up to rejoin I-70 east of Idaho Springs -- it's only slightly slower (if at all) than taking I-70 and has different scenery.

Yup, your second option is what I had meant when I said 6 to I70(at Exit 244). If they are both the same duration, I'll probably just pick one when I get to that area.

LOL! According to this webpage on City-Data, 76.1% of workers in Louisville work in Boulder County.

Drrr. Louisville is in Boulder County yet it remains an exurb of Denver. Please refer earlier mention of juked stats.
Home prices in Louisville are much ... much ... much (again?) much lower than Boulder proper. Again, the area is an exurb to Denver -- drive until you qualify and to an extent an "I can't afford to live in hippie-town" (in the past 10 years) answer to Boulder, so I will move into the sticks and drive the extra miles.
Dangmont is just a strange place to live period and diagonal is worse than the 101 in the bay area these days.

Why is a statistic from the Census Bureau regarding where people work a "juked" (?) stat? It is probably the 2000 census, which predates the formation of Broomfield County (2001). Interlochen Business Park was formerly part of Boulder County, so the number may be lower now, as a lot of people in Louisivlle do work over there. There is no mass exodus out of Louisivlle to Denver in the morning to go to work.
Louisville is not "drive till you qualify" by a longshot. Where did you ever get that idea? It is considered expensive by Boulder County standards, second only to Boulder. I have posted on this before. I suggest you do a search, steveindenver.
And the drive from Boulder to Louisville is 3.5 miles, whether you believe it or not!

To add to this good information. . .
Guess some people are so Denver-centric that they're not aware that many "Boulder metro" folks don't visit, work in, or otherwise find Denver to be the location where they live their lives.
For that matter, some don't appear to accept that Boulder is distinct enough and large enough that it comprises its own MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area), separate from Denver.

Hey neighbor! I am also from Long Island and am currently looking to move to the Denver area. I flew out there mid october to visit some friends in Denver...and all i can say is that I FELL IN LOVE with the Washington Park, Cherry Creek, and Glendale neighborhoods! Picture Garden City and Rockville Centre type homes (not as expensive mind you) in a Central Park setting!! I also loved downtown Denver itself. The people were extremely kind out there (not what we're used to, that's for sure), and groceries/gas/utilities were less expensive than on LI. The only thing i cannot comment on is the job market; i am a teacher and it seems that the market is just as tough out there as it is here in NY. But i would try and check out most of Denver if you can; it's a big city, but very diverse. I know you'll love it out there! Good luck!
