Thornton is pretty average across the board for those categories you've mentioned. It's a suburb of Denver that is pretty close to Downtown (15 mins.). Their schools are generally rated average, and housing can be pretty affordable. The cost of living is comparable with the rest of the Denver area as well. Crime is also average for the Denver area.

If you want to be in an area that is commutable to anywhere except the most Southern parts of Denver, than good neighborhoods with decent schools and standard of living can be found in Thornton.

I haven't heard of anything good about Thorton... most people say to stay away from it. Check out the threads, there's a lot of info in there.

The northern parts of Thornton aren't really that bad but the southern and to a lesser extent the middle parts are older and a little rougher. Low property values are what bring people to the area. If you get far enough out that it is a nice area your drive back down into DT Denver isn't going to be fun.

I'm being transfered with my company that is opening a new location in Thorton in the spring. I've never been there, and I'm not entirely sure what to expect of the area. I would appriciate any advice on areas to live in and or any other advice. I will be relocating with a co-worker, we do plan on living together until we are settled in. Both of us are young females, so safety is key but I'm assuming Thorton is a little safer than Albuquerque to begin with. I'm curious to know what to expect rent wise, at the moment we are leaning towards an apartment community. Something newer, but not excessive. Unfortunately at this time I am not sure of the exact location address of our store, but would be curious to know what commute times are like as well. Any advice would be so wonderful, Thank you!

Hi! Congratulations on moving to Colorado! I had to leave about 2 years ago an I am trying really hard to get back. I lived in the Broomfield area (Camden Interlocken Apartments) and it was a nice, quiet and safe apartment complex. There are some nice places in Superior, Lafayette, and Louisville you might want to check out (Horizons at Rock Creek is one) - look at the normal apartment places on the internet- (Apartments.com; ApartmentGuide.com; Rent.com; ForRent.com, etc.) I would not try to settle in Thornton because it is really congested older housing - I know I did not get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling when I drove through there everyday to work. Anywhere West of Rt 287 is newer and nicer. Sticker shock might get you but you want safety so you might feel more comfortable paying a little more. Thornton is only about 5-8 miles East of Broomfield and a little bit further to the other towns. Boulder is only another 8 miles from there - something to think about! I know I gave you alot of information, but you don't want to make a mistake of getting in a lease and not be happy with your apartment. Good luck!!

As I said, I hadn't heard of Thornton till my company decided to build there! Thank You SO much for the info, I didn't realize Boulder was so close. I'll definately be checking out the areas and the community you suggested. Thank you Again!
