Favorite holiday to-dos around Denver
As a newbee, I'd love to hear about the events/local traditions that the "long-timers" attend in Nov/Dec. What area-specific things do you look forward to all year long?

I moved here alone and it was right around the holidays.. and one thing I kind of liked was the carolers that walk around Cherry Creek North on the weekends in December. There was just something about it that made me feel really good, especially when I was feeling a little bit lonely.
I'm sure there are plenty of other holiday events going on around the city, but I kind of look forward to this time of year. And even though I've found other neighborhoods that I now prefer to Cherry Creek North, I still like to stop in at some point before Christmas.

The Nutcracker Ballet by the Colorado Ballet. Ice skating at the outdoor rinks around the area. (I like Louisville's and Boulder's, but that's just b/c I'm close.) The Parades of Lights (Denver, the biggee, Louisville, Boulder, possibly others). Driving around looking at the Christmas lights. They're always so pretty in the snow. You'll find your own favorites.

Here is a great website I found. Hope this helps. We are going home for New Year's so we are excited for that. It will be bittersweet though.

The first week in December's Christmas fun in Georgetown!
There is just something about that big round fire pit in the middle of town, with everyone getting warm and eating brats. The reindeer ( real ones) and visiting all the little shops!
Then, a HAVE to drive and walk in Breckenridge! So lit up and just what one thinks of a mountain town at Christmas should look like......unless you are someone who hates any kind of resort in Colorado!

There is a candle light walk on Main Street in Littleton on the Friday after Thanksgiving every year.

I love the Christkindl market. It used to be in the Pavillions downtown but now it's in Cherry Creek, right by the mall. You can buy all things German, and they serve authentic brats and that yummy German wine, gluhwein (sp.?). It runs for about a month, I think all during December. I just found the link, and it's moved again! Skyline Park is right on the mall (16th St. Mall).
Here it is: Welcome to the Denver Christkindl Market - The Christmas Event in Downtown Denver
