Studio Apartments???
Does anyone know of any REALLY nice ones in and around Denver?????
I'd prefer it to be CHEAP too....... but I don't want to live in a rundown apartment. I don't really need a BIG one bedroom for just myself. So I was looking for some really good studios to look at????
THANKS!

Definitely check Craigslist. There are plenty of affordable studios and there are some nice ones in the mix.

Yeah, one thing to be careful of are scams. But I agree, Capital Hill is a good spot for them. Also away from that area, around Wash. Park, Governors Park, outskirts of Cherry Creek (watch out, sometimes they say Cherry Creek but are really in Glendale are far away).

Glendale sucked. I loved Denver, but I still hate Glendale.
Apartments in the Burgh do that also. They say they are in Shadyside (a really nice upscale neighborhood), when they really are in a neighborhood over in East Liberty. (a neighborhood that was plagued with lots of public housing)

One of the pits of moving from afar. Oh well. I suppose if you are prepared for it, it's no big deal. I think I'll try for a short lease.

I agree it is very hard to know what you are getting into when you first move. When I first got here I thought I found the perfect place and jumped on a year lease. Turned out to be far short of perfect and I was LUCKY, just very lucky to get out of that lease to find a better fit. Sign the shortest lease possible at first til you are sure you are where you want to be!

Maybe check out corporate housing (meaning you live in a hotel at a weekly rate---maybe approx $400/wk) for your very first few days here, so you can have a short-term base to evaluate apts in person from. There's actually a couple weekly apartments in capitol hill which look pretty sketchy, but you're only there to find a better spot.
Good Luck with online renting.....craigslist seems 50-50, but there should be a few other sites to cross-check some apts on craigs. Be very careful. I was very lucky to rent online before moving and got probably the best apt. I've ever had--excellent landlord and great building.
Where exactly are you wanting to be? Downtown? Suburbish? Near the Mts? There's lots of options, but "REALLY" nice and "CHEAP" is pretty oxymoronic. Definitely stay away from Federal blvd and Colfax is hit and miss. Maybe look near Cherry Creek North (pricey though).
Good Luck with your search, and be sure to search the old pages of this forum to help w/your decision. A moment of searching is worth a 6 month lease worth of headaches.
