Hi all! I joined City-Data after combing the site for info on Miami. I lurk there, but don't post often. I mainly post here as it's my home city. It is addicting. I continued at first because I was bored at work, then I got really engaged in some intellectual discussions. I was surprised because I always thought chat/forums were full of crazies, but I was doubly surprised to meet some very nice people. I also like the "community" like feel here.

And yeah Zion, it was neat to know you are just a little ways from me. I absolutely love meeting some of the people (transplants) who've moved here because I can learn a lot about where they came from. I don't travel much (in the U.S.) and it's always enjoyable to meet and talk with others from other parts of this country.

I'm also quite a know it all. And like most people, I yearn to be liked.

hahaha! I'll always like it. I just want to try to like something else. And this forum is par for that. Sometimes I think it's a very creative way for one to express themselves in ways that they might never do in person.

Lurked here for my most recent relocation. Didn't do enough research because I REALLY need to get out of here, so I registered this time and will make a better choice next time.

Like others, I came across City-Data when searching for information for my upcoming relocation. I'm moving from San Francisco to the Denver area, and while I read the Denver forum all the time, this may be my first post here. I can't answer any questions on the Denver forum yet (my first house hunting trip isn't until early January, and I've never been there), but seeing the helpful threads in Denver led me to try to contribute in San Francisco and Florida (where I formerly lived).

I keep coming back to the Denver forum because I keep learning more about the city I'm moving to, and I keep coming back to the San Francisco forum because I like to help people. It's good to feel like you can help someone out, even if you've never met them in person.

It all started the day (damn that day) I did an online search to collect some info on the city I was relocating to.....it went downhill from there.

Now something between a crack addict and the energizer bunny, I just can't stop!

There's got to be some sort of a medication (with possible side effects such as unexpected blogging outbursts and occasional urges to play online casino games) or even a permanent cure for this.

Thank god I am on here mostly at work. Sometimes I could be busy working but if it is light work, I can multi-task and still post here hence the numerous typos, broken words, sentences or worse, posts that make very little or no sense at all. I wonder if this one will turn out to be one of them?

Nowadays, due to my search of a new home and considering a few different cities and states for my next move, I realized I have spread out to other city forums like cancer. My posts are all over the place. I am sure I managed to make some people laugh, cry, cuss, yell, get mad at me and god knows what else?

Ok, I am gonna stop here and go to bed...

I started to look on information for relocation, wasn't even really into blogging about a year ago and stopped by City-Data a few times ... now well I've found something to kill time. It's also rather impersonal but easy way to gather opinions/data on certain cities/regions for urban planning innovation as I am in grad school for Public Policy. Who knows maybe some of you ... well your screennames ... will be in my upcoming book.

Pretty much yes.
I originally found it posted on a Denver Bronco site, someone wanted some info on Colorado.
I came to look at pics of my home state(CO) and the rest is history. I love knowing what is going on in the world, I came more and more during the elections since it seemed that's ALL that was on the news and I wanted to know what is going on around me.

Oh yes and the games.

I first did it in another state's forum to ask questions about my sister's eviction situation. I wanted to hear some objective opinions. I keep doing it now because like Cabolissa says, it is addicting, but it's also a great outlet, and a fun way to communicate with people and read different viewpoints on things.

Personally, I know I learn a lot about items I would never have thought about locally. I also use it when I travel to find out what is happening in other cities and I answer the questions asked in hopes that I can offer a little help to someone in need. Yes, I am bothered by the occasion Troll who give bad advice or incorrect information, but you have to admit, it does keep it interesting and keeps Denverites on their toes. We are proud of our city - almost to a fault, but it is a wonderful city and easy to like!
