I would love to see more of the F.X. Zettler stained glass windows at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. I will be doing a college art presentation on Munich-style stained glass windows and these windows are some of the finest of the Munich School stained glass windows.

I was hoping to get back into the Basilica for 'Open Doors Denver', which is in two weeks - 2009 Participating Sites - At-a-Glance
However, I don't see the Basilica on the list. I do have more pictures in my personal collection but the quality is similar to what is in the post above. I may just walk over and try to get in there on my own with my new camera. Do you live in Denver?

No, I don't live in Denver but in many cases I wish for the Cathedral alone. I live on Long Island,New York about a 45 minute drive form NYC and when I first saw a few pictures of the Cathedral's windows a few years ago I was like wow these are beautiful. There are a lot of these stained glass windows in Chicago Catholic Churches. I have come across churches with Munich windows in the New York area. Zettler had an office in New York at one time

The Basiclica is one of our gems as it was one of the projects Molly Brown ('the unsinkable' who was on the Titanic) headed by collecting funds from her rich Catholic friends to see it built in the early 1900s. I don't think there are any other Zettler works in Denver and I have seen some of them in Chicago.
What exactly would help you with your presentation?

I don't need a lot of help but thank you for asking though, because I know a lot about the history of the Munich school stained glass and what the windows depict. I just wish I had the time and money to visit Denver and Chicago to see and photograph the stained glass windows. There are at least 18 churches in Chicago alone with Zettler Windows. I think Annunciation Church in Denver by the way has Munich/Zettler Windows from what I have read and there may be one more I have read about I just don't remember it's name. It's more pictures I would love which I am photographing myself but only in my region and I was hoping to get the Cathedral windows in my collection.

I will see if I can get back in with my camera without disrupting services or individuals praying in silence. Since the church is basically downtown, there is always someone in there praying or confessions going on.
