Utilities Question
Hi,
We're about to move to Denver and am wondering:
1. Does Denver Water also provide sewer? Or is there another company I need to call to set up sewer service?
2. Does Xcel provide both electricity and gas services? Or, again, is there another company I need to call to set up gas separately from electricity?
Thanks so much,
Libby

I don't know about Denver, but here in Aurora water/sewer is combined.
Yes, Xcel does cover electric/gas. It's great.

Are you moving into Denver proper or Denver Metro?
Denver Water also charges for sewer. Not all Xcel is gas and electric, but when you call and give them an address, they will tell you which services they provide for that address.
If you are renting the landlord or property manager should be able to give you specific information on these service providers.
In Denver, the city takes care of the trash service. In the suburbs you may be on your own, or it may be covered in the HOA fees.

It depends on where you will be living. In most of the suburbs in the Denver Metro area (hard to tell when you leave one and go to another), water is through Denver Water but sewer can be provided by any number of different sanitation districts. I agree with 2bindenver -- check with your landlord or property manager (or your realtor if you are buying) to find out who provides service. Also, even though Qwest is the main telephone provider, you can get phone service through private providers.

We'll be near 6th and I-25. Is that Denver metro or Denver proper? I've contacted Xcel & Denver Water, but it's hard to tell from the websites what they provide. Ah well. Thanks for the info!
