I grew up 30 minutes from the ocean, and I am not a big fan of the water. The beaches are pretty bad in Texas. I agree about the economy and cost of living. I don't think Denver is a ton more expensive (like Cali), but I am prepared to spend 30-40% more for housing & a decent amount more for other things. My salary will probably be about 5% more in Denver.

As for the cold, I have experienced it (ski trips in the mountains) for 2-3 weeks. It seems like Denver doesn't stay that cold, at least for what I am comfortable with.... I have no problem with temps in the 10-20* range, especially if there are some sunny days mixed in. I know it will be a bit of an adjustment though. Thanks for raising some legitimate concerns.

If you are set on it, do it! I visited twice in 08, once in July and the other in November.

Both you and your wife loves it there and don't have kids to lug around, you should go for it!

Sounds like you got your priorities straight and have a plan (B) to make income (day trading)

Good luck!!

Very true, unless you are coming from Austin.
