What was Denver like in the 1970's and early 80's?

Compared to the Denver of today?

I recently came across an old national road atlas from 1977, and it was startling to look at how undeveloped the I-25 corridor must have been compared to today. Aside from the population differences, what sorts of differences in local traditions or moods are there nowadays?
