Smile Moving from Chicago to Denver

hello! I'm moving from Chicago to Denver in June 2007. I'll be starting a new job in Broomfield, CO in June and need to research areas to live.

I currently live in the Schaumburg/Palatine, IL area which is a nicer-upscale area with townhomes in the $200-350K and single family homes from $400K+.

Ideally, I'm looking for a similar area with single family homes ranging from $300-600K.

If anyone knows both areas and could help point me in the right direction to search I would much appreciate it. If you don't know Chicago, but know Denver well, ANY advice would be great! Thank you!

Broomfield has new and existing homes in all price ranges. New: Anthem & Broadlands are popular. Average SFR would be in the $300 range. Fabulous 2500 sq ft 3+ bedrooms with study and basement and a 3 car garage would run $400,000+

Hi. We are moving in October from Naperville, and can't wait. I have been dong a lot of research! Two website that I use are: coloproperty.com and cohomefinder.com. The second one has a lot of information on property values, and listing history. We are seriously looking at Broomfield and Erie. I'm not sure what type of community you want to be in, but we want a family friendly neighborhood with lots of kids and good schools. Broomfield seems a lot like Naperville, with tons to do and lots of shopping and restaurants. Erie is smaller, but the vista Ridge develpoment looks awesome. It has a golf course, clubhouse, and 2 pools. We won't get out there until June, so I am still looking at all areas. My husband will be working in Boulder, so we need to be somewhat close to that. Hope some of that helps. They say 300 days of sunshine in Colorado!! I can deal with that!!

Default Thank you!

2bindenver, thank you for the feedback regarding the areas you recommended. That looks to be in line with what we are looking for.

GoBears, hey fellow Chicagoan! It looks like we're in similar circumstances. We're moving out from Schaumburg/Palatine to the NW side of Denver in June. My finance is moving out in early 2008, but I'll be purchasing a house this summer. I will be working in Broomfield, so I am looking for something in the area.

Thanks for the website recommendations, we'll definitely start looking into listings there. Have you found a relator you like working with?

I agree with gobears (we moved here from Chicago in 99)- broomfield itself would be very similar to where you are now. Good trails, shopping, restaurants and nice views of the flatirons. Much development that way. Also, Superior and Louisville would be good to consider. These 3 all kind of blend into each other and aren't far apart. Good luck! There are lots of people here from Chicagoland area!
