3 Friends moving to Denver
I am moving to Denver in a few months with 2 of my friends. We are in our early 20's and work as hairstylists. We have been searching online for neighborhoods to live in and the ones that caught our eyes were
ballpark
five point
LoDo
uptown
Cherry Creek
Are intrests would be music, shopping, nightlife and dog friendly areas.
We are planning on renting a 3 bedroom and our max price would be $1600 per month. Any information you would have for us would be fabulous!!

Check out Capitol Hill, I moved there in May and have no regrets about it. It's a good starting point and affordable. From my experience it's centrally located to the areas you mention. You can walk through downtown, lodo and be at the ballpark in 25 minutes. That is if you cheat and take the free mall shuttle for the 12 or so blocks it runs.
Cap Hill is full of 20-30 something renters enjoying life.

I live in Uptown, and it's my favorite neighborhood in Denver. It's very easy to talk into the downtown core and down to LoDo, and there are some great coffee houses and restaurants in Uptown. Capitol Hill is just south of here, and it shares many of these qualities. Capitol Hill feels a little less "polished"/"refined" and is probably home to a wider variety of people and shops, which may be a quality that you're looking for. LoDo and Ballpark are probably more expensive, and (in my opinion) feel less like a genuine neighborhood. However, you'd certainly be in the middle of the action in LoDo. All four of these neighborhoods are within easy walking distance of each other, especially if you can hop on the 16th Street Mall shuttle.
Five Points is a little further from the downtown core, and is more of a neighborhood in transition -- you can expect more crime there. A friend of mine lives in Five Points, and has been held up and had his house burglarized in the past few years. The "yuppie front" is edging further into Five Points. The light rail train goes right down the main drag, so access to transit is good.
Cherry Creek is very posh and expensive. It's not within easy walking distance to downtown, but is a very short car or bus ride. Lots of shopping, restaurants, etc.
I moved to Denver in my early 20's (about ten years ago), and I rented an apartment on North Colorado Blvd near the old med school. That's a decent neighborhood, but certainly no nightlife hub. My priorities were finding something cheap in a reasonably safe and convenient area.

I totally agree with all that was posted above in the last two replies. If you are going to work as hairstylist, you will want to be close to Cherry Creek for the big income dollars. Cherry Creek North is our Miracle Mile but more boutique shops and salons. Hermes will be opening within a few months and other very high end European shops, check Pura Vida salon as that is the newest. I live on the south end of Capitol Hill - Governor's Park and have been here for over 20 years. Love the location as I can walk 1/2 mile to downtown and the 16th Street Mall shuttle, 10 minutes to a major grocery store, 10 minutes to a Landmark Theater, 25 minute walk to Cherry Creek North or a 7 minute drive. The Denver Art Museum and some great clubs are on Lincoln and Broadway, Capitol Hill west and the Golden Triangle board each other.
