Default How do you say Arvada?

Rhymes with Nevada? (second a is like apple)

And how about Ken Caryl? Is it Caryl like Carol or Carl?

Arvada is like Nevada. ARR-VAA-DA, not ARV-AHH-DA

Ken Caryl is like Ken Carol (not 100% sure on this one, but I believe I'm right)

Sorry to get off of the Arvada/Ken Caryl thing here, but I just have to ask:

Is Qdoba pronounced Cue-Doba or Ka-Doba? Of course this is trivial, but my brother seems very perturbed that most people seem to say Cue-Doba.

And how about La Quinta? Some say La Kwinta and others say La Keenta.

Just curious...

Ken Caryl: Ken Carol
Arvada: Our Vaada (not our Vahda)
Qdoba: Que-doba
La Quinta: La Keenta

And the biggie....

Colorado: Color aaaa do NOT Color ahh do.

That one really annoys me. It's always the prickish East Coasters in Boulder who pronounce it that way when, in fact, they are the only ones.

I say "Color aaaa do" but maybe growing up with neighbors on either side from Colorado imprinted the pronunciation on my brain at an early age.

My wife (also from SoCal) says "Color ahh do" and when she tries to say "Color aaaa do" it just doesn't sound natural for some reason.

Grew up in Ohio (Oh-hi-o, not Ah-hi-a), and it's Color-ah-do for me. I'm not changing. BTW, call an Ohioan a east coaster and you're likely to get a steel-toed work boot upside the head. I'm just sayin'.
