As for the uneducated people thing. I know that there are a lot of college degree holders here. But it seems like there are also a lot of people on the totally opposite end of the spectrum too. There are a lot of people here who just act rough and crazy, and they speak in very bad English. I'm not talking about ghetto people, but more like trashy people. Compared to other places i've lived, I see it a lot more here. But I guess a lot of you all avoid this side of society because you just drive everywhere you go.

Your view of Denver will be determined by where you came here from. I just came here from living overseas, so I had some big culture shock coming back. If you came here from some other Middle-American town, your perspective would be very different than mine.
Well, there are 448 threads on the Colorado forums that mention light rail; 408 on the Denver forum alone. A quick search would hve shown this. Light rail, AKA FasTracks, is frequently mentioned in the press as well.
To say: They need to expand the light rail a LOT. Hopefully it'll happen someday. But i'm not counting on it. The US is not too keen on spending money on projects like that for it's cities these days. shows you did not research light rail before you posted.

I did come directly here from middle America, Champaign, IL to be exact. But I have also lived in Pittsburgh, So. Cali, Philadelphia area (Delaware) and a few other major metro places.

I have visited Denver for about 1 week each year for the past 5 years. I live in CT. One thing about the posts which I find strange is the complaints about traffic/drivers.

Compared to other cities like New York City, Boston, DC the Denver traffic seems extremely light. One of the first things I noticed when I was driving from the Denver airport is that there are like no cars on the road and you can drive 75mph speed limit -- This seems like a drivers paradise.

The biggest problem with Denver/ seemed to be if you have a family and the school system is not that great. My sister is a teacher outside of Denver and she talks about this and that there is a large population of immigrants. There is nothing wrong with that but it makes educating more challenging.

My sister also says that a lot of people in Denver dont like people from TX and California. Is this true? also why?

A lot of thuggishness and tough guy attitudes too, and around here it just seems sooooo unnecessary. We are not in a dangerous city, there's no need to act like that.
I totally relate with you. I lived without a car in Uptown and later Congress park for three out of the four years I spent in Denver. Creeps galore on the 15 bus route. Although, the only people who ever bothered to talk to me were the weirdos. Like you said they're deranged or something and they absolutely have to sit directly next to you even when the bus is completely empty. Speaking of deranged, my gay nextdoor neighbor at my apartment on Columbine St. came over late one evening to see if I was up for watching some porn and drinking shots of vodka. Gross, no thanks. Then there's the crowds of degenerate teenagers that gather on 16th St. and just loiter. That's why 16th St. sucks and there are no good retailers down there. What about the bums who basically live on the lawn of the State Capitol and Civic Center in Civic Center Park? That can't be good for your image. Juggalos bug the hell out of me too and they seem to be everywhere, and Denver has more than any other city.

A report released on Sunday said Denver is looking at 9% unemployment in 2009 http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-cityjobdeclines,0,811916.story
On a related note, Madison was just named #1 (3.5% unemployment) on Forbes list of Ten Cities For Job Growth In 2009, Milwaukee was #5 (4.8%).

I guess that does not speak to how stupid the stupid are, but pretty much every measure show's Denverites are very well educated.
You're right about Boulder being the smartest city in the country, but actually Massachusetts is ranked #1 and Colorado is #43 according to the 2008 ACT Composite Scores http://www.act.org/news/data/08/states.html

Well other than being deranged, he seems like a fairly friendly vodka drinking porn watching gay next door neighbor.

Ummm... If I'm not mistaken, Reynosa, Matamoros, Laredo, Juarez, and Tijuana Mexico have way more Juggalos than Denver does... one-legged and one-eyed Juggalos too! Check your facts, Jack!

I don't know about that. I'm a transplant from Arizona, California, New Mexico, Kansas, and Wyoming so... I'm a more educated sophisticated and fairer-skinned Coloradoan, so we're working on those natives trying to get them up to speed. We're sending most of our leathery tan skinned natives to the slopes to be Ski Instructors.

I'm not referring to male prostitutes, those are jiggalos. Juggalos are the fans of Insane Clown Posse, they wear black goth-style clothing, dye their hair bright red, and some wear halloween make-up. You see them everywhere, they even have their own store called Primo's in West Denver.

We also have binge drinking to keep us entertained in the colder months. Like I said before in other posts, Milwaukee has stability. We don't prosper as much in good times the way boom-towns like Denver do, but we also don't suffer as severely when things take a turn for the worst.

Well if Swillwaukee is so stable and party-town, why aren't you busy posting in there about how wonderful it is there?

Or maybe there's a What do you dislike about Swillwaukee thread with people posting, "Well at least it's not like Denver!"

See, I wouldn't know if that's the case or not because I don't care. I also don't care if the girls there are fat and smelly and hairy. But I understand why they swill.

It is time to stop judging and classifying people on appearance. I am a pretty conservative 40 year old transplant from Wyoming. I love ICP. Their music makes me laugh and I am not beyond dressing "goth" on occasion. If you saw me dressed up you would write me off as undesirable when all I'd really be doing is having fun. I also live on the hill and ride the infamous 15 daily. You see people of all walks of life on the 15. Some of the stories you will hear if you talk to people are incredible. Every person is different and on a personal journey. Maybe remembering that will make it harder to lable people or judge them.
