My husband has a job opportunity in Golden. We have a two year old daughter. We lived in Pueblo for three years and absolutely LOVED Colorado. We're avid hikers, runners, cyclists and adventurists. I'd like some information about Golden. How is the weather? How sunny is it? How is the housing? Is there easy access to the mountains and recreation areas? How are the schools? What is the community like (family-friendly? laid-back? snobby? middle class? educated? athletic?) Are there a lot of things to do in the downtown and the surrounding areas? Any information would be helpful. Thanks so much.

That's great about a new job opportunity. I'd say location of Golden has to be great. Close to the city (denver), the mountains are right there, Red Rocks, I-70 gateway to the high country, trek up 93 (pretty much a straight shoot) into downtown Boulder. I don't know too much about the demographics of the town. But for a family it could be a good town I think.

Must be pretty quiet since the school of mimes is located there ;-)

Golden can mean a wide selection of locations. You can be in town or you can be smack up in the mountains and still have a Golden address. So it's pretty much what kind of place you want to live in.
