Default Moving to Denver with the family

I'm planning on moving to Denver with my family in a few months. We are looking for a neighborhood in a good school district and would like to be close to downtown Denver. Thoughts?

i'd take out the rail map and pick based on that. some of the most respected schools are south of denver and the rail goes down that way. take a look at the cherry creek district and the douglas county district(of course highlands ranch and surrounding are the only areas right now with rail in douglas)

Price range and other considerations?

There are good schools everywhere, and bad schools everywhere too.

Douglas and Jefferson County both have well rated districts as well as Arapahoe County and Cherry Creek Schools. Dever has some good neighborhood schools, too. You'll have to get on the web sites and check out the school's test scores. There's no magic bullet for schools. Different people want different things, and if you didn't do a good job of raising and motivating your kids, they can get into trouble no matter which school they're in. If you do choose the burbs, you're commute to downtown will be 40-50 minutes depending from where you're coming from.

jbtele,
Here is a link to a map with all the school ratings. Just zoom in to the denver area and you can get a feel for the schools. You can definitely see the patterns. Higher schools, Higher home prices

I'd highly recommended searching the forum- this question is a very common one, price range and then come back with some specific neighborhood questions. Everyone is very helpful here.
