Thank you Denver!
Took my first trip to Denver this past weekend with a couple of buddies and we had a great time. Everyone that we interacted with seemed to be really friendly and down to earth. We took the trip because I am interested in moving to the area. I have been in ND my entire life and I recently decided that I needed to experience life outside of what I know (and escape the brutal winters of -30 degree temps). However, I didn’t want to give up the four seasons. Denver is perfect! Everyone took the time to give suggestions and answer any questions I had about the city. I was pleasantly surprised as to how people actually took interest in these conversations and also decided to share personal in depth stories. Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks to the kind people of Denver. Now I just have to get through the fun part of finding employment in the area during these wonderful economic times. If anyone has any suggestions or tips on this process (other than what has been posted already – I have been reading this forum a lot), please share them. Oh, I am a 23 year old single male with a BS in business management trying to discover a career path that I can advance in. Yes this is vague, but unfortunately I am still working on figuring out what I am interested in/passionate about. I am hoping that a larger city combined with the change of scenery will help with this.
Once again, thanks for the great weekend Denver!

I moved to Denver 7 months ago and have been truly blown away by the wonderful people in Denver. I love it here and love the people I have met here!

Nice Denver
I've met a few people from Denver and they're really fun, nice folks. I've read a few people post here that Denverites are cold and not so nice... It's nice to hear this perspective from transplants and would-be transplants.
We've (me and the family) decided on Denver, but we're still looking for reassurance of some kind.
Is every winter as mild as this one? Most days in the 50's with sunshine? That's just insanely good weather.

Well, it was 0 when I got up this morning, so it's not always that pleasant. It's very up and down with temps in the winter. In the past week we've had highs from 71 to 17! So you just survive the cold days and watch the weather in anticipation of the next warm days. Average highs right now are 44, but it doesn't seem to actually hit the average very often.

Yeah, the people were fantastic! I was surprised how most everyone seemed to be courteous when we were out at the bars and restaurants as well. We also checked out the Aquarium, comedy club, and natural science museum. I just wish there would have been a game of some sort when we were in the area. As for the weather, I will gladly accept the ups and downs over the weeks of below zero. I also embrace the fact that snow doesn’t pile up all winter, but if you ever want to partake in snow activities they are just a drive away.
I had read somewhere that there are some golf courses that are open year round. Is that true or false? Also, are there any lakes that a person can go kayaking, if so about how far from Denver?

So I am (same age, soon to be MS in Acct), so are tons of people on this forum, so is just about everybody and their pet dog these days it seems like. Unfortunately it seems like there's just plain too many people in Denver with the same kinds of degrees and experiences all fighting for the same jobs. I would never personally want to live in North Dakota. However I know a bunch of people from Fargo, ND who I met at ASU, and they are all pretty nice, friendly, easy going people-- much more "friendly" than Denverites IMO. Also North Dakota is currently ranked as one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation, at only 3.5%, beat only by Wyoming. That is astounding! ND must be doing something right. Not to say you shouldn't go for your dreams and join the rest of the mile high club, but if you're able to find a decent job right where you are it could be the best thing right now. Who knows... people might be scrambling to move to places like Fargo, ND before too long if word gets out that there's jobs there.

I moved away, and now I'm wanting to come back very badly! I love it there, and the only thing to make it better is a Trader Joes really (West Coast spoiling).
One thing I have to say about business management is that no one looked at me twice till I had experience, once I did I had a good amount of options (though in a better economy). Sucks though is you need a job to have experience, chicken and the egg thing.

Great post! Thanks for coming back and sharing your experience. I think I am a nice guy, native to Denver, and nice! Sounds rare based on what gets posted about Denverites, but nice to hear your opinion! Join us for Happy Hour when you get moved!

I'm sure osmeone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard Trader Joe's was moving in here.
Of course, that was before the economic meltdown, so it might have been true six months ago, but not true today....
