If you've read the New York Times best-seller, Left to Tell: Finding God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust, you're already familiar with Immaculee Ilibagiza's amazing story. If not, Immaculee hid from Hutu murderers in a small bathroom, tucked away in a Hutu Pastor's home, for 91 days with 7 other women. There were times she could hear the men coming to find and kill her calling her name.
Immaculee is coming to Denver to speak at a gala to raise money for the Sonrise Orphanage and Boarding School in Rwanda. The school was founded by Bishop John Rucyahana for the orphans of the genocide. The Rwanda Leadership Foundation raises money for the Computer Enhanced Education Center at the school. They're motto is No Books to Notebooks. Before RLF came along, the students didn't have textbooks, let alone computers.
If you're in Denver, please join us at the Comedy Works South on February 26 at 11:30 to hear Immaculee and Bishop John talk about their amazing journey of survival during the 100 day holocaust (1 million Rwandans were murdered in 100 days) and their hope for the future of Rwanda.
