Default Another human looking into moving to CO...

My boyfriend and I are planning to move out of California in hopes of starting a new life in Colorado this coming June. We are trying to figure out if we should try to establish ourselves in CO Springs or the Denver area? Both cities offer several recreation/outdoor opportunities as well as other things to do. We're not into the bar/club scene so lack of bars is not a deal breaker, no kids and we're in our late 20's. His previous work history consists of heavy equip. operator - worked in CO Springs for a few months and is currently working in the roofing/construction labor industry. my work history consists of administrative assistant/sales assistant currently working in advertising and have also held customer service related jobs (I also have a personal trainer certification). DBF would like to work in Heavy Equipment again and I'm open to working in an administrative position or maybe utilizing my personal trainer certification.

I am planning on visiting for a short weekend in April to check things out. Of course we'd like to find work before moving but I've read several threads with those mentioning that you won't get a call from a hiring manager or recruiter w/out a local address (we will get a PO box at the UPS Store) and if you receive a call back, let them know you're planning on relocating at your own expense on such and such date. Are some apartment communities pretty strict with steady income or can you pay a larger deposit to rent in hopes you will find work within 2 months?

Thanks in advance!
