From the article:
What Higginbotham calls "his little piece of heaven" is Palisade, Colo., 15 miles east of Grand Junction. Population: 2,793. Traffic light: one....he is thrilled with the laid-back lifestyle in a small town. Yet he is 20 minutes from an airport and a mall and within 2 miles of nine wineries. He has one request: "Just don't tell the Californians."
I think they already know.

It's because there's something about Denver that attracts people.
I really want to scope that place out after I graduate in two years to see if it would be a good fit for me.
How is Denver for a young recent college grad? Are there a lot of young people there in their 20's?

Denver sucks. When its not 30 below zero with a white out, you're dodging lightning, tornadoes, or hail. The sun never comes out for 9 of the year. The other 3 months its 100+ every single day. Its also just as expensive as California. Stay away!

I moved here in the 1970s and it was noted as a destination for the youth ---Now, we are the Senior Citizens of Colorado and there are many of us--very happy and thriving.
If you are old, tired, and worn out; Colorado is a good place to be renewed.

I have a feeling that not that many people will move to Denver this year. In this horrible economy, people will be staying put, no matter where they live.

Thanks for the post LiveContent! I had just read it on the www.9news.com site and it does make me wonder what all the questions were on the survey and who exactly was called. Denver isn't a rebuplican haven by any means but Douglas county and the Springs have been. I base my thoughts off of registered voters and what people vote on and for whom in Denver.

Sadly, I am seeing different. This week alone I met two new people at my gym, one from Detroit and the other from Wyoming. Both looking for work and staying with friends. Both said they heard there were jobs here and just up and left because it was so bad as to where they were at. Not sure what city the guy in Wyoming was living but the other was from Detroit. It is incredibly difficult to live in cities that don't have diversity with their industries, i.e. Detroit, Pitsburgh. Once here though, I don't know if they will find what they are looking for as everywhere I turn there is evidence of "recession", the word that nobody wanted to say for the last decade.
